Fair points. My gripe is more to do with the rubbish Hearn speaks about the world class production that is far superior to anything out there, however it isn't.

Mine is Earn spouting shyte like 'Amazing Unprecedented Value' and 'I cannot believe they have set the price at only £7.99' when anyone with a pair of eyes and half a brain can see it is shocking value at the price.

Cheers, looks like we all agree. Hearn has oversold a lot of the production stuff, and it grates.

But the DAZN production is very decent, with obvious strong and weak points, just as there are on Sky.

The delivery system is right for me, i.e. a streaming service without obligation to purchase a TV license and a TV package. And I might even have tolerated the presence of useless garbage like Maya Jama. But I won't pay until Hearn puts the women on different bills from the men. If I was even able to pay for Sky's product, I wouldn't, for the same reason.

Have Hearn/DAZN actually had the nerve to bump Cameron-McGee into the main event slot on that O2 bill? It's beyond the pale. Card shouldn't even be going ahead without a reasonably enticing replacement main event or a strong chief support to bump up. Hope ticketbuyers claim the refunds they're being offered.

I supported televised boxing with my dough for the first seven years of my adult life, until I ditched the TV license and cable package (grew weary of enabling the spread of propaganda/fake news just to access the sport), though I kept up a BoxNation subscription for a while after that, so I'm willing to pay and then complain about whatever I think could be improved if necessary. But this womens' boxing agenda is a bridge too far — I don't appreciate having my intelligence insulted to this extent.

The reason why people - myself incl. - being extra critical of Eddie Hearn is that he said people could forget all about what they were watching so far on Sky Sports. When Matchroom switches to DAZN, everything will be on a whole new level. Do you think (hand on heart) that Matchroom boxing events are better on DAZN than they were on Sky Sports?

    [QUOTE="u

Is this the main thing you think's wrong with DAZN's production? Sky haven't had this for several years imho, but you said they were in a class of their own.[/QUOTE]

What I wrote was that Sky Sport's production of AJ vs Pulev was world class. It's the best boxing production I've seen since AJ vs Klitschko. Sky Sports is in a class of its own. DAZN's production is nice, but it's nothing special.

Matchroom boxing made a massive gamble jumping ship by leaving SKY for DAZN and with each passing day the likelihood of the gamble coming off diminishes. Hearn’s main cash cow AJ is in nowhere land and even if against the odds wins the title back how many fights does he have in him ? Matchroom’s current UK roster has the main headliners Sicknote Whyte , Del Boy , Conor Benn plus his female fighters . Stateside on a good day he might be 3rd behind Top Rank and PBC . Yet Hearn insists he is da man , I admire his confidence and I guess he has read a few self improvement books on Positive mental attitude etc. But he needs a reality check his product isn’t up to scratch and what fighters he has seem to lose pretty regularly.

To be totally fair, you said:

Then I asked why, outlining my views on the strengths and weaknesses of each platform, and your answer was saying DAZN lacked something that Sky IMHO don't have. To that end I was (and still am) confused.

What makes the Sky production stand out in your view? If I compare an event of similar scale like Canelo v Saunders from DAZN USA to AJ-Usyk, the pictures and direction there were good and IMHO on a par with AJ-Usyk. (However the DAZN USA commentary and presentation team were absolutely appalling and Sky's presentation team would have been a huge upgrade).

Production-wise? Little to no difference as I outlined when I asked my original question, both platforms have strengths and weaknesses.

DAZN production isn't everything Hearn says it though, I accept that. Hearn's move was about controlling his platform and output, and now he has it he wants to make that clear - proper salesman. It's OK with some glaring issues, just like Sky is.

I do give a huge black mark against Sky for their adverts between rounds on undercard fights. I am paying a lot of money for their service - show me either replays or let me listen into the corners.

Event-wise? Fight Camp 2020 was better than 2021, though one of those events was a PPV.

The Leeds and Liverpool cards were stronger than most Sky Sports Fight Nights in 2019 and 2020 imho, but I would expect them to be as it was Matchroom and DAZN's big coming out party. They had to go big, and largely achieved it.

The undercard for Whyte v Wallin demonstrates that they will find it difficult to keep this standard up. This will be very much exposed when the O2 Arena is at about 30% capacity next weekend…

I'm sorry if I made you confused, but now I have to make it very clear: Sky Sports commentators, experts + production are significantly better than DAZN UK. Usually I always wait with a new service a few years before I pass judgment, but Eddie Hearn promised to take boxing (commentators, production, etc.) to a whole new level and it's hard for me to see. Maybe it will get better in a year or two ...

I think you're being unfair. It isn't as good as Hearn says it is, but nor is it significantly worse than Sky as you are saying it is…

But fair enough. :D We simply disagree, which is healthy. Let's see what comes in the next year or two.

My honest opinion of DAZN so far:

    Fights - rubbish
    Production - rubbish
    ‘Talent team’ - rubbish

Regarding the ‘talent team’ - not one person is good at their job on there except maybe Laura Woods. Andy Lee is a knowledgable bloke but isn’t a commentator, Costello isn’t made for TV, Bellew is a clown and Maya Jama is absolutely hopeless. No idea why Hearn thought hiring her would be a good idea when she has absolutely no idea about boxing.

Yes, I was probably a little too harsh in my criticism but it has to do with Eddie Hearn having oversold how amazing DAZN boxing product is.

You could say that but based on sheer numbers I would say 60-70% of DAZN subscribers actually fall into the casual category. It’s the same with any big boxing event

Just to make you aware the other 2 of the other 3 fights also have rematch clauses. Matchrooms are the only one published
