He used to spar with Canelo for a short time, he probably saw how big Canelo was and even probably hit the scales next to him at the gym. There was never a reason for GGG to come down for the thickly muscled Canelo. I'm sure him and Able were fishing for possible opportunity's, he would possibly come down for Floyd who was 20 or so pounds lighter than Canelo. I think most of it was to generate interest. Canelo turned out to be the real deal as is Golovkin, thats why they are so evenly matched.

You do know that 155 is middleweight, right? Technically Alvarez only had one fight within the junior middleweight limit after the Mayweather bout and that was after he tried to b.s. us all by saying he was still a 154-pounder. It was obvious early on that Alvarez was a middleweight, seeing as he weighed more than Golovkin ever did going into a fight when he came in at 174 pounds against Austin Trout. Trout was the first top-10 guy he ever fought, too.

And those who dislike GGG like to take this 'I'll fight everyone between 154-168' and run with it, while ignoring Golovkin's more consistent insinuation in post-fight interviews that he wanted to focus on 160.

GGG is, was & always will be a 160 pound MIDDLEWEIGHT CHAMPION. No one has legitimately beaten him have they. ( corrupt decisions do not count )

You're in complete denial CJ. He lost to Canelo, you calling it a corrupt decision because it didn't pan out like you predicted has no bearing on the result. Canelo's win over GGG sure as hell counts, it was his signature win. The way he won it, by taking the fight GGG coming forward was legendary, and it proved the doubters like you wrong.

Nah, he got ****ed around by the promoters back in the day. I can't excuse him now though - his matchmaking has been underwhelming for a while now. Murata fight should be decent to watch tho.
