Bob Arum said the target is to get Tyson Fury to fight in the UK in March against either Whyte or Joyce. He denies Whyte is mandatory and thinks he will need to fight Wallin to be made mandatory.
Not really. A lot of people seem to rank Joyce as better than Whyte, and the biggest threat among the 'new' contenders.
I hate that all this ducking a diving from Top Rank is making Whyte seem like the HW boogeyman again.
I was hoping for a Fury bout before March. He basically only got hit three or four times in the latest Wilder bout.
I suspect Whyte will be the opponent. Warren wants it to be Joyce, of course. But Whyte is a bigger fight, more money, and actually likely to be an easier assignment for Fury.
Whyte's best win was Parker, Rivas, Chisora and Pov. Although I realise Pov was completely shot after covid./ Joyce's are Takam, Dubois and jennings. Maybe Joyce could beat Whyte, but Whyte's obviously more proven.
Nail on the head. They obviously risk Hearn winning the purse bids if he goes against Whyte (I think Hearn will pull out the stops as it will give him enough sauce to put PPV on DAZN.) That said, Whyte is definitely the easier opponent than Joyce, who just has that nightmare style for anyone as he’s relentless and non stop coming forward. Fury should beat them both however.
Could Fury get himself up for the Joyce fight? They seem friendly with each other whereas Whyte is a bellend and there's been plenty of needle between them.
The only thing Whyte is proven at is being a fat useless cheat, who has the luxury of having meaningless fight after meaningless fight on PPV whilst constantly complaining about his mandatory status for the WBC belt when he turned down a multi million pound offer to fight for not 1 but 3 world titles! He has no 'best' wins really. His only legitimate and untainted victory worth mentioning is against Chisora in their second fight. The version of Povetkin he fought this year should never have been allowed into a boxing right. It was sad and embarrassing. He deliberately head butted Parker to score a knock down, without that the fight is a draw. The first Chisora fight was also a draw at best, ne got a blatant gift there. The Rivas fight, no need to go into that in detail but basically the whole thing stinks and to this day the truth has not come out and probably never will. Joe Joyce would splatter him. 5-6 round KO. Pretty straight forward. Joe is a nightmare fight for AJ and Fury. He gives both of them serious problems, Usyk too. I do think Fury would ultimately have enough to overcome him, but it's a far, far harder fight for him that Whyte.
