Good summary. AJ does seem to be desperately clutching at straws in a somewhat confused philosophical and strange fake belief manner. Interview was rife with contradiction. I never took him to be kinda weird.

Joshua always been kind of a weirdo, all this inspirational bs he always talks about. But he is still a fighter with lots of pop, and he can win the rematch. He came in lightest ever and tried boxing...that was a bad game plan. Usyk is a superior boxer. But Joshua can come in his usual and try to outmuscle Usyk, it could be the answer. Usyk may win again, but it's not so clear cut.
AJ being aggressive leaves him open to tiring out and getting countered on his glass jaw. Sooner or later someone was going to do what Ruiz did to him in the first fight.
If he has glass jaw then so does Lennox Lewis who got knocked out twice....it's about timing, you can get a perfect shot in and get dropped...this is the sport.
AJ seems confused, lost between styles and how to move forward. He really started believing this 'sweet science' stuff after dancing around an obese Andy Ruiz and frankly looking over-cautious and frightened in the process - like a poor man's Klitschko. Now after Usyk he's having to backtrack and be like 'No, no actually I need to go back to my OLD self'. I just don't think he's that adaptable - he never adapted that well to being a slicker, more classic boxer, and I don't think he can adapt back that easily to being the punishing puncher he used to be because he's very aware of his vulnerabilities. I don't think AJ's ready for Usyk again at this point. Would actually love to see an AJ vs Wilder fight. Would surely be one of the bigger non-title fights in history, a big legacy win, and way of getting back into the mix for one fighter or the other.
It definitely seems like some Wilder-light there. The other creepy thing is how he said his spiel- fast and monotonous, staring straight ahead, as if hypnotized, or robotic. It was like a chant, or something. Very creepy and inauthentic. I give him a break. He simply is not in the class of an Usyk or a Fury, but unlike Wilder, who is a complete fraud, he fought who they put against him, he tried to improve, and at the end of the day, there was a time when Fury left and Usyk had not yet arrived that he was the best (if by the skin of his teeth!) in the division. It must be hard for him too accept that he is fighting for a chance to be #3 from now on. My strong advice to the man is, if he loves the sport and wants to be the best again, take a break until Usyk and Fury retire. He could spend a year or two drinking booze and chasing women all over the world, and come back later. No need for the bizarre robot chant.
I agree that deep robotic chant he did was incredibly cringy. Someone told me he said "stay hungry, f*** being humble" and i didn't believe it until i actually watched LOL Usyk has mentally ruined him
Why him and Wilder always trying to be someone that they are not ? He should fight Wilder next, let's see who is more damaged
Its like he has a problem beingbtrue to himself after being all about image for years. Its why he comes across confused, frustrated and contradicting cause he is all over the place and doesnt know what to do. Usyk made that robot malfunction. Perhaps AJ needs a psychologist more than a trainer for his Rocky 3 moment.
AJ lets rip every time he opens his mouth. His string of public utterances amounts to one long, slowly leaking fart. He should not speak until he can resist rationalizing his defeat and just let go of all the motivational psychobabble and 'new thought' mumbo jumbo. While he's working on flushing that crap out of his system, he could repair to the drawing board with some authentic humility and simple optimism. Fancies himself a Kronker, but can't get in the door because the much more teachable Tyson Fury (who has a decade of history with the Stewards) is the star of the gym. That's tough. I really can't wait for Wilder-Joshua to materialize. Two troubled kangz with missing souls banging it out in a third place playoff.
