    Who the **** are you?

Can you tell me how many losses Jimmy Young has on his record?

More’s the point, who the **** are you?

Respond rudely and indignantly like your typical, garden variety, boxing forum fan boy cretin and you will be treated as such. No problem at all. Clearly some can’t cope when others post “cute”’in kind, even when the response is still based on fact, no less.

As to your rhetorical poser which you “think”’made a self contained and self serving point. The point of focus was also on durability, so Jimmy lost 18 but only 2 by way of KO, stopped by power puncher Shavers and later by power puncher Cooney on cuts, notably staying on his feet. Otherwise Jimmy’s chin combined with his defensive skills upheld excellent overall durability, including against the likes of Lyle, Foreman and Shavers in the rematch. Mikie however had 6 losses but no less than 5 by way of KO. That’s a better KO rate 83%, than what Mike achieved in victories 78 %, right? And let’s not forget Mike bailed and avoided another likely loss by KO/TKO by masticating on and biting off a portion of the Real Deal’s (and Evander actually was) ear. So, for all intents and purposes, let’s go 5 for 5, 100%.

Thanks for wasting 3 minutes of my time that I won’t get back. I might not bother putting you straight next time.

Young's elusive style is perfect for Tyson, and Young, though good, wasn't good enough to compensate from the stylistic problems Tyson presents. IMHO, I don't see Jimmy getting to the 5th round with Mike Tyson.

Looks like about 40% are predicting a stoppage win for Young within 12 so far, but you may be right. Tyson was pretty durable.

Jimmy's chin and evasiveness will get him so far into the fight. Reasonable chance to go all the way but likely on the short end of the scorecards. However, without more substantial offense to keep Tyson honest, it's possible he might not see the final bell. This is the best Young we're talking about. If Tyson had managed to stop/KO that version, it would've been a significant credit on his resume.

An early blowout is unlikely even if Tyson comes out the gate swinging for the fences with murder on his mind. Young is far too slick and survival minded to get stopped within 4.

I could see a frustrated Tyson eventually breaking him down with lots of body shots and a few elbows and mauling just to make young uncomfortable. He'd have to stick to him like glue and pick his shots carefully. If he head hunts or just chases young relentlessly in a straight line it would just scare young into going into his shell.

The best version of young might be able to lose a decision if he uses all his annoying survival tactics and lands a few counters. He could have some success on the inside since he was better at that range, but by no means would he come close to winning a decision. His punch output was too low and he wouldn't do enough to keep Tyson from fighting his fight.

Here is what everyone forgets. The SPEED of a prime Tyson.
It would be too much for Jimmy to handle.
He doesn't have the power to hold Mike off and Tyson is the faster fighter by far.
I could see Mike actually getting him out of there in under 6 rounds.
Shavers isn't close to being as fast as Tyson.

It’s true, hand speed is a crucial thing, as are reaction times and defensive measures. Young’s own hand speed, reaction time and defensive measures weren’t too shabby either.

Sometimes speed can make all the difference, even between two fighters who are each, beyond average fast. In such cases, the degree of advantage in speed, if any, can only really be ascertained when the fighters actually engage in the ring and the advantage also has to be appreciable to make a significant difference.

I think Jimmy lasts the distance as he was a decent clincher. Clinching is what helped guys like Bonecrusher ("Boneclutcher") Smith, Mitch Green and Tony Tucker last the distance in their fights with Mike. A stoppage win for Tyson isn't improbable, though, as Foreman proved Young could be caught and hurt, and Mike was a better finisher than Big George. Overall, I think a Tyson win is imminent, but most likely by decision.

Young never got annihilated except for the first Shavers fight, and he earned a draw (Probably a robbery) in the second fight

Jimmy Young never faced someone who will close the gap as fast as Tyson.
Sure its possible he lasts the distance if that was Youngs intention but if he tries to actually win he gets stopped.
Tillis moved alot better then Young and Green just wanted to go the distance.

If Bonecrusher, Tillis and Tucker could survive vs Tyson, then Jimmy Young most certainly would have.

Tyson stops him inside 7. This could end much earlier, but Young was elusive & durable - so it's possible he could even go the distance. However, he wouldn't have the power or offense to keep Tyson from pressuring him. Tyson would eventually land a shot that hurts Young & Tyson wouldn't let him off the hook.
