You guys I did it! Found a juicy historical match-up at middleweight that hasn't been done (period, let alone to death) on here yet, that is. Let's say, for a fair sampling, Hamsho from 78-85 against Golovkin from his own peak seven year period of (IMO) 2010-2017. Let's say 12 rounds - but if you think making it 15 affects the outcome, describe. The mauling Syrian southpaw would be giving up 2½" of height but have 5" of reach over the Kazkahstani syncretizer of "European" and "Mexican" style.
Hamsho eats GGG's ram-rod jab all night and loses a wide UD. Hamsho was tough as hell and an effective brawler (remember when he beat Bobby C), but GGG's superior craft, power, and cement-like chin prove too much for the Syrian to overcome.
....Golovkin stops him late. Honestly why is Mustafa's name before GGG? Hamsho was some random no name contender in the Hagler era and Golovkin is one of the greatest middleweights of all time...... quite the disrespect to the Kazakh star.
Because it...doesn't matter? This is a time machine hypothetical match-up thread, not a bout for a world championship. Who's to say GGG isn't the challenger in the scenario?
(also people - normal people, that is excluding the fanboys and haters - are less likely to give a second glance to "yet another Golovkin" thread, with their eyes never even reaching the second half of the title. So it was intentional/strategic placement yes but not in the spirit of 'dissing' GGG)
