Good point. I listened to the BBC boxing podcast and there was plenty of bluster from dillian and the inevitable, but regrettable brown nosing from Steve Bunce 'course he's not faked it, he's a warrior' but the overwhelming impression I got was the lady doth protest too much...

I personally hope whyte did pull out of the fight. Its about time he made business moves like most of these guys do he's too brave for his own good fighting anybody. Look what happened last time with povetkin he didn't need to fight him and took a big risk.

He's probably looked at the AJ loss and thought nah I don't need to be taking such a risk and should play the game like most do.

AJ and whyte both take risks, have the best resumes but look where it gets them . No where, both are ripped to shreds for losing and not given and ounce of respect for getting in the ring with top fighters. Yet on the other hand you have fury who has beaten nobody for 6 years, has a **** weak resume yet he's worshipped as the second coming of Ali because he hasn't taken an L.

Perhaps if AJ were smarter, didn't need to fight usyk or take ruiz on such short notice he would be undefeated too.

Whyte has done the right thing

Drug cheats like Whyte are more of a kick in the nuts to boxing than a post on the forum.

    Hilarious post.

Joshua has had two fifty-fifty bouts in his entire career. His best win is Fury's sloppy seconds, and then his record falls off a cliff after that, full of puddings like Rice Pudding Jr, Martin, Molina, Takam, Breazeale, Pulev, etc. He's also lost twice and can only win in a stadium in the UK.

    Wake up, bud.

Anti-doping policy and governance is both ineffective and corrupt. If you think that top level athletes worldwide are not utilising top grade pharma, sophisticated "medical outfits" and underhand "charitable donations" (often laundered through their commercial partners) then more fool you.

Enjoy sport for what it is. It's big business and it's entertainment. It's a cut-throat environment, not a ****ing fairytale. It's a kick in the nuts to your favourite athletes to moan about others doping, when they're doing the same thing. Let the athletes get on with what is a necessary part of their career.

See, I felt exactly the same listening to it. At the same time I think Whyte and Hearn were fighting a losing battle whatever they did.

Speak out to try and defend - British boxing fans won't buy it unless we see his arm hanging off
Publish scans/medical reports - people will accuse them of faking it
Ignore - people will say they have something to hide
Threaten defamation cases - PR nightmare, especially if a well-resourced person refuses to retract their statements

They tried to speak out, and Whyte's inarticulacy really hasn't helped him. Hearn has also thrown a few snide comments out about Wallin and Salita which were uncalled for imho. Neither have come out of this looking good, and Whyte will have lost fans over this.

FWIW, my gut feeling looking back on this fiasco is that Whyte *does* have an injury. But his decision to withdraw is a voluntary "take no risks" withdrawal, a convenient excuse.

I just hope we see Fury-Whyte next spring at a similar time to Usyk-Joshua. The sooner we can see a unification heavyweight bout the better.

This card is abysmal isn’t it? The only 50/50 is whether or not I’d have a go on Chantelle Cameron
