What do you guys see this dude achieving when his career is done?? Seemed to be in the ascendancy until the Parker match where his team say he was robbed. The bloke gets talked up so much by his team but seems so feather fisted when he steps up imo
He could beat a Whyte... So given the HW scene is pretty much the UK. He's doing ok. He got edged out by Parker, Pule & Povetkin but didn't get blown out. Fury Usyk (honouree brit) AJ Joyce Whyte Hughie He's got a decent footwork for a big man, iron chin his offensive work rate just needs improving. He falls victim to men who will go after him because you don't really score any points for defence, the guy hitting his gloves and missing or working hard to land 1 punch still takes that point from the round if he fails to answer which Hughie tends to do.
I don't know. He looks very depressed and old, but he is only 27 years old Those loses really affect his apperance and confidence. Rematch with Pulev would be suitable at the moment I guess
It was a close one that Hughie probably should've nicked (going by memory, as I never did give it a second viewing), though you could score narrowly for Parker without too much complaint. But the scorecard of the British judge lets you know just how much the establishment here despises the Furys. Terry O'Connor, 118-110. Feels like Hughie's been around forever, and he's got quite a bit on his ledger in terms of notable opposition, considering that he's only just turned twenty-seven, that he had an extended period out with ill health and that he's challenged for a world title exactly once. He's likely to remain an also-ran in the scheme of things to come, but I'd be glad for him if he develops into more.
I'd say he has probably gotten as good as he will within his current situation. he needs to change up his team and hope for improvement if he wants to make a splash and be considered a serious contender on the world level.
The fact that he’s still only 27 and has that record is pretty impressive right now. if he keeps beating gatekeepers for the next 3 years then who knows what he can achieve! 30-35 is a usually a good age for a heavyweight. I’d be very interested to see him in with the likes of yoka/helenius/ortiz next
He’s still top 20ish in the world, just needs the right fights and to add more to his offensive arsenal to be a serious threat
He's too one dimensional to beat anyone good. A lot of Tyson Fury's success comes from being able to adjust to his opponent where he will box or fight inside, whatever he has to do to win he'll do it. Hughie just constantly boxes on the back foot and never puts anything into his punches, the jab is his main weapon yet any good heavy could walk right through it easily. His feints also have no effect because there's nothing to worry about when he jabs.
I suspect he's about the level he'll get to. If he's dedicated he could stay around for a while, and with a bit of luck could get a few good wins, but I don't think he'll ever get to the top.
He is what he is at this point. He's a good fighter, probably top 10-20ish but will never improve to be a contender. There's no shame in that or reason to retire, he can still have a good career.
Not sure Terry O'Connor's score card means British Boxing has it in for the Furys. O'Connor was the referee who gave Tyson Fury the controversial win against McDermott. Then again, people said that was because O'Connor was holding a grudge against the McDermotts. Or It could just be O'Connor is terrible at his job, he is the guy who was caught playing on his phone when he should have been scoring a fight, after all
Lacks charisma and that mean streak for me, beaten every time he’s stepped up….let’s not talk about Ortiz Whyte or Ruiz they’d knock him out cold. Probably end up lingering at European level before sailing off into the sunset after the other few fans he has lose interest. A Helenius type fight next for him would do him some good.
Ruiz couldn't even wobble, never mind drop or knock out cold, the ghost of Liakhovich, Lawrence, Zumbano Love or formerly retired and shot to pieces Arreola... but he would knock Hughie Fury out cold who has never been down in his life.
