it will, Plant is better than Joes 2nd best 168 win, Lacy, to which you then add more than one other titlist (which Joe cannot match).

But I agree its not an obvious winner fair point.
And I agree that we have to wait for the result on Saturday before the claim is valid.

    Who knows, Canelo loses.

Calzaghe is all wrong for Canelo and wins a clear decision.

At 168 I would have seen Calzaghe beating Saunders, Smith and Plant, anything below that weight is a moot point in terms of opposition.

Calzaghe would have been a very hard proposition for anyone at that weight in his prime, he had that stamina which only seemed to get stronger throughout the fight he would have been an excellent 15 round fighter.

Calzaghe probably to active enough and would have been out throwing Alvarez all night. The angles, speed, southpaw, timing and reflexes would have given Alvarez all he could handle, Calzaghe UD for me.

    Calzaghe.

Canelo will have moments, he could even force Calzaghe to call on his famous powers of recovery with the right shot, but Joe is ultimately too strong a compound of skillset, sheer output and intangibles for Canelo to get to grips with for any extended passage.

well that's what happens when you test yourself against the best in the world when it matters.
the reason why calzaghe has never earnt the right (imo) to be compared to arguably the best fighter in the world atm (canelo), is because he never did that.

Cal beat a way past prime Bhop and Eubanks, so let's not use them for examples. Cause both prime Bhop and Eubanks beats Cal. Cal was called Callslappy for a reason. He had speed and skills, but no power! He could never hurt Canelo who has a good chin.

Too much skill, too able to switch things up where necessary and... 3" in height and 3" in reach.

Even if everything else is fairly equal, those advantages count for something when we're talking about fighters with the ability to make good use of it.
