The quality being Anthony Joshua. Whyte landed one decent punch and caused a sensation for having a few seconds of success. Apart from that brief moment, it was all one-way traffic. Against a washed-up fighter, almost 10 years his senior. I'm not trying to build a case. You mentioned "consistently faced better opposition" ... I'm just pointing out he has been KO'd brutally a couple of times already, and also scraped by on some disputed decisions. That's your opinion. I think Chisora is, and always has been, no more than a tough British/Euro-level fighter, same as Skelton. There's not much gap between Whyte and Williams.
That’s a great match and I totally agree, it would of been a good brawl. I will say Skelton wins. He was a tough man to beat in his prime boxing days, at that level, and I reckon he out lasts Whyte in a cracker.
So, you scored it 60-54 in favor of Joshua then? It was a better quality fight than both the Skelton/Williams bouts. Whyte still had to get back on the horse and do the job, against a guy he knew could take him out, and he did just that. Povetkin washed up? He seemed fine to me, up until the Whyte rematch. And your point doesn't change the fact Whyte has consistently faced better opposition than Skelton ever did. Yes, and it is backed up by facts, in the shape of results and ratings, as well as verifiable video evidence. That might be, but he was better than Skelton. Chisora faced better opposition, put on better performances, even in defeat, and has the better wins. I'll repeat it for you: No one, who gets taken to the wire and knocked out by Audley Harrison is giving Whyte any trouble.
Whyte isn't much good. Put him in the ring on a week's notice against a fit Audley, yeah he might get taken out too. Povetkin had been on clear decline for a few years. Looked well past it against Hunter in quite a gruelling fight. I was saying he should have retired sometime before that and certainly after. Looked virtually shot when he knocked Whyte out too. 40 year old, for heavens sake. Whyte is same level as Skelton and Williams et al.
I rated Joseph Parker too. But let's be honest. He looked like total **** agsinst Cojanu and Hughie Fury. We ignored it because the division was in dire need of young hopefuls and he had a 'world title'. Then he loses a clear decision to AJ and a few months later takes on Whyte. That is Whyte's signature win and i do not think he really deserved. Parker seems to have talent but I am not sure he has ever reached true world class either. Since losing to Whyte his highlight is a debatable decision against an aged Chisora. I do wonder if Joseph peaked as a prospect before he won that title.
Helenius is cited among Whyte's best wins. But Helenius was knocked out by two guys who were on Wilder's bum defence circuit! Fighters Wilder is absolutely pillaried for taking some rounds to stop, fighters not considered legit challengers, they (Johann Duhaupas and Gerald Washington) have knock out wins over Helenius. Whyte failed to knock Helenius out. It is not a particularly good win. Helenius got some notices lately by knocking out some pudgy guy in America, a guy who knocked out Gerald Washington. So they have a nice little merry go round on the fringe circuit.
Fifth best win. I'd think Skelton's fifth best scalp is...it's a travesty. It might be Kevin McBride? This is not a sensible comparison, really.
Top Five would be: John McDermott Danny Williams Michael Sprott Paulo Vidoz? Tom Dallas? Jesus H Christ.
