This is how I see it too but Toney has a better defensive ability imo and will scrap a narrow win. If they meet twice, I'd say 1 victory for each. I forgot to add poll but it seems about 70:30 for Moorer so far.
That fight didn't go more than 9 IIRC. And unless I'm mistaken, Toney's move to HW was predicated on the fact that he didn't like to do road work. At their best, I'd pick James in a heartbeat.
Holyfield was shot when he fought Toney and was close to his peak with Moorer, having narrowly defeated Bowe in a previous fight. I would say Moorer was strong & awkward enough to keep Toney at bay with his right jab and would possibly win a close decision, i won't rule Toney out but the Moorer who beat Holyfield in their initial contest was a very competent fighter & difficult to beat.
Holyfield was pushing 41 & was a shadow of his former self & anyone who knows boxing will agree, in fact Toney stated himself prior to their fight that Holyfield was an old man & he was going to give him a beating.
Did you say that also before the fight? It is easy to say now. Actually Holyfield was the betting favourite to win the fight. I think too Moorer wins against Toney but I do not downplay great fighters record
Nobody is saying Holyfield was in his prime. What’s forgotten is that Holyfield was favored and fought hard and on even terms until the gulf in defense and counterpunching separated Toney.
It either goes one of two ways. Moorer out points Toney with the use of that jab or Toney counters and hurts and finishes Michael. I actually think Toney could pull it off.
Toney was a boxer,.he didn't have a seek and destroy mentality. Especially after he moved up. James would be content to stay on the outside, slip shots and look for counters that Moorer wouldn't give him.. Michael Moorer had a nice right hand. Not only the right jab but his right hook would be a threat to Toney.
Agreed. The dead moments in a round would be dominated by Moorer. When Toney content to pose and not work.
Actually Toney was the busier fighter based on punch stats. No, Moorer woudl win based on his shotgun jab.
