I mean, Louis also fought some brutal battles and he could sustain a beating. In fact, Louis was never stopped quickly - even in his last fight he took a lot.

Nobody in his era could hit as hard as Foreman, Liston, Wilder, Wlad, etc
Nobody in his era was as skilled as Tyson, Holmes, Holyfield etc
Nobody in his era moved as good as Ali
    etc

You just picked 4 of the hardest hitters ever to prove your point. All of them fought in different eras.

You're also wrong, because both Louis and Baer hit as hard as anyone.
I mean, Louis was for starters. Not many HWs were as skilled as them, but fighters like Charles, Walcott or Schmeling were comparably skilled (maybe even more), they simply lacked physical gifts of Tyson or Holmes.
No HW ever moved as well as Ali. Nobody in the 1980s or in the 1990s moved as well as Ali.

Joe did it all. He dominated not one but 2 generations of heavyweights. From about 1934 he was knocking out former heavyweight champions until all the way to 1951 he was still fighting and beating many of the best heavyweights in the world.
There still really is nobody that punched like Joe Louis. Not in the heavyweight division. The way he put them together with accuracy and timing. He had power In both hands and the quickness of his hands is not something you can prepare for.
With that said Holyfield being a smaller man coming up had speed and coordination the larger guys don't have. He could match Joe's handspeed perhaps.

No they did not. You're just under that illusion due to them wearing smaller thiner gloves and facing weak opposition.

Plenty match and/or exceed Louis's hand speed: Tyson, Ali, Patterson, Dokes, Tubbs, Frazier, young Holyfield

There are evidences that smaller gloves don't actually increase punching power. So, you failed again.

Joe Louis matches up well with most of the good heavyweights from all the different eras..He knocked out bigger heavyweights 250lbs+ they can't say he didn't hit hard enough. Look at his skillset, they can't he was crude or lacking accuracy, counterpunching as he exceptional in those areas.
Only thing left is to throw his competition under the bus..

Holyfield weighed around the same as Louis and was naturally a leaner man.

That's plenty 8 fighters? Tubbs, Dokes, Young, Patterson and Ali hit like women compared to Joe Louis. Frazier wasn't as quick as Louis or the deadly threat from both sides. That basically leaves Tyson as the closest talent we have had to Joe Louis in his prime.
    You proved my point.

They don't increase punching power, but they increase the damage your opponent gets.
Watch what Luis Resto did to Billy Collins.

It increases the chance of skin cut, but it doesn't give the higher pressure on the body.
