It can be both and for the fighters I want to research are:Newsboy Brown,Tommy Paul,Benny Bass,Johnny Jadick,Harry Smith,King Tut,Young Firpo,George Chaney,Lou Bogash,Tiger Jack Fox and Al Gainer. This is a long list so generally for fighters of 10s, 20s and 30s.
For 20s and 30s, you'll need to pay, other than free trials. newspapers.com is probably the best overall. There's also genealogybank.com, which has quite a few not on the others, also newspaperarchive.com but I'd advise getting that last, if at all, as it seems to be getting a lot of technical issues at the moment.
Hey McNugg I don’t do paid, I’m too cheap. LOL. However, you can give this free one a shot, I’ve found some decent info there from time to time. I sampled Luis Firpo and Al Gainer and some articles came up. https://elephind.com/ Good luck and hopefully enjoy!
For a freebie, you might try https://chroniclingamerica.loc.gov. It stops at 1963, but that won't be a problem for you.
I knew about chroniclingamerica and it has a lot of good fight reports, but mostly for fighters I am interested have no fight reports and if they have one or two they are usually pretty shallow.
I subscribe to the NY Times online. It's a very good resource. I just typed in "Newsboy Brown Boxing" and quite a few articles and fight reports popped up.
It's one of the better free ones, but only useful for reports in that area. Ideally you want local next day reports.
Sorry I totally misread that. I was thinking of https://nyshistoricnewspapers.org I only research in English, but I could check where has Cuban ones.
