i think the exact same thing.

and in fairness, if you think of the biggest boxing stars britain has produced in the past 25 years, Hamed, Bruno, Hatton, Calzaghe,

    they've all been with Warren,

Exactly that. Franks only issue is being left with No Money and no tv deal.
DAZN will offer to continue honour the existing contract IMO

Do we not already have precedent for this when BT bought ESPN's UK and Ireland business.

    https://www.c21media.net/news/bt-to-buy-espns-uk-and-ireland-biz/

There was no continuation of espn. Bt sport launched with all the content they got part of the espn TV purchase.

Calzaghe? Wasn't he struggling to fill an ice rink in Cardiff for the majority of his career?

You forgot to add the biggest draw in the last 25 years. Anthony Joshua.

An elephant's foreskin is a far bigger draw than Joshua

Well yeah, that’s kind of my point- they acquired the content including Contractual liabilities. However, as we know DAZN is currently an app - and its a completely different operation infrastructure wise to incorporate the 2 businesses. This was part of my point, when it comes to PPV functionality. You can expect DAZN boxing to stay an independent App for time being after the potential purchase.

You also cannot just move Premier League football etc to an App without a serious amount of obstacles and licensing/branding issues.

I get everybody has different knowledge levels and this isn’t really pointed to you, but I’m really struggling to get my head around some people thinking that Warrens and all the other sports connected to BT are suddenly going to be at risk because the business gets sold.

If BT was going bust or in receivership or something, than that’s a different kettle of fish, but this is a voluntary sale.

The way forward is obvious. DAZN tell Frank to relax, they will honour the deal he struck with BT Sports. They will send their best man to oversee it and what's even better he will have a DAZN film crew with him to shoot fly on the wall promo material. Frank excitedly opens the door to meet his new boss, Edward Hearn. The camera crew shoot the resulting hi jinks and it rapidly becomes the highest rated program in history.

Get it out for Christmas and call it 'Frankincensed'

I understand what you are saying. You are correct that some sports will object to being only on an app without traditional TV. UFC mandated this when eleven sports got the rights and then got out of the deal as eleven sports didn't get the TV spot.

Now I'm not so sure epl care. Sky gives them all the TV coverage they need and if amazon for example decided to bid for a bigger share of games they certainly wouldn't be looking to have a channel on the sky box.

That’s true, I’m very interested to see how it plans out.

The best case scenario for me if DAZN do the deal would be if they look at Warren and see that he has: Fury/Joyce/Dubois/Yarde/Avenesyan/Callum Johnson and a huge roster of young potential stars and say: ok, We are going to improve on your deal, here’s more finance, BUT we want you to make immediate better use of your stable, meaning better quality cards/TV product. We also want you to work with Matchroom when there are suitable fights that should be made.

That to me would the best thing for British boxing, plus Boxxer doing well at the same time over on Sky.

If Uncle Frank went back to Sky and its quite a big if as Boxxer might be exclusive, how many shows will they give him, 8 maybe 10, there's no unlimited dates.

Yep and we already know DAZN will have different promoters on the network. It would actually help if DAZN played a bigger part in matchmaking as even if Warren and Hearn were on the same network I still think getting them to actually work together without being pushed would be hard work.

DAZN could definitely do with an Adam Smith type, overseeing quality control who doesn’t mess about when it’s time to put the heat on his promoters.

Lots of things are far more complex than it will be on DAZN, contracts etc

What I don't get is BT Sport makes a loss and is a loss leader for BT overall, DAZN is a loss-making business, now taking over another loss-making business, I don't get the whole plan, one of three things, they're idiots, they hope someone buys them out, there is something dodgy going on

There are lots of big well-known companies that have large financial losses year after year and still run on. I suspect they have bank account where there is tax shelter.
