Anyone know the details of the rematch clause? There's a lot of speculation that Joshua will have some sort of postponement once the date is initially set to give himself more time to restructure his team and tactics. How long can Usyk be legally tied up? It would be a shame to see Usyk be made to waste a year or more as his prime will soon come to an end.

Millennium Stadium, Cardiff in spring 2022.

There won't be another rematch. Usyk will be completely free.

I think Usyk's prime is going to last longer than expected (assuming his desire to fight sticks around).

He's making the transition to more power and it's working, obviously his punch resistance is holding up, he could have staying power.

And what happens if, come spring 2022, Joshua is "injured" and the fight must be rescheduled?

I wish he would just schedule a different fight for Spring 2022. Give AJ time to learn something, let Usyk fight Fury and maybe that tape shows some inspiration.

What we have scheduled now is round 13 of a beatdown. I blame Hearn for this, of course AJ is going to want to run right back into the buzzsaw, he's humiliated.

My understanding is that it must take place within 6 months of the first fight.

AJ is going to mullar Usyk in the rematch.

Just like he was going to "mullar" Andy Rice Pudding Jr. and Usyk the first time round, similar to how Ejagba recently "mullared" Sanchez.

Not a Joshua hater, but there needn't be any rematch.

I mean, there were no knockdowns, AJ was a multi-belt champ for multiple years, and his rematch against ruiz proved he can bounce back with new tactics. I think he has the right to a rematch, but i'd also say, regardless of the outcome of the rematch, both guys need to move on and a unification bout is what is needed.

It wasn't a close fight. (I had it 117-111 Usyk and that's as far as I think it can possibly be pushed for AJ)

Knockdowns and how long you held a belt (nor how many) aren't really factors in whether a rematch is warranted. Future outcomes being the least bit in doubt, are. Most people thought Joshua vs. Ruiz II might go differently, even if they picked Ruiz to retain. I don't think anyone seriously expects Usyk would do anything but widely outpoint Joshua if they fought again.

Now, warranted and ordained are very different things. While this isn't the former, Hearn putting in that clause and Joshua triggering it does make it the latter, so we very well may end up getting this whether or not we like it (and whether or not it ends up being a waste of everybody's time with an exact repeat).

With Pulev (the IBF mandatory) and Usyk (the WBO mandatory) out of the way ...

The winner of Joshua-Usyk II has to face the WBA mandatory next (since the last time Joshua fought a WBA mandatory was 2018).

If Joshua isn't ready, I guess Usyk can face his WBA mando next, followed by Joshua.

The WBA mandatory is ... drum roll ....

    Trevor Bryan.
