These are mainly fighters that have fought in MW. Out of these fighters who would you say had the most sturdy chin?

Hagler is the most proven. GGG might be on par, but it was never proven against the competition Hagler faced.

LaMotta is the most proven. It's crazy to me that he didn't die after Robinson VI.

Hagler and LaMotta are on par at middleweight.

Hagler walked through Hearns' and Mugabi's best punches. I don't actually think he was rocked against Hearns and if he was hurt against Mugabi, he didn't show it. He had one official KD against him but that was him being off balance and a slip against Roldan.

LaMotta took everything that SRR threw at him, which was everything. He staggered into the ropes and was stopped but wasn't dropped.

As Hannibal Barca says, GGG's could have been as good but it's hard to know.

Monzon was dropped by Valdez, albeit a flash knockdown. He was visbly hurt against Bennie Briscoe but recovered very quickly.

Toney was dropped hard by Reggie Johnson but would go on to show tremendous durability. The KD against Jones was a balance thing as much as anything. He wasn't actually hurt.

McCallum, like LaMotta, was only knocked down late in his career and he was definitely wobbled by Julian Jackson - no shame there - but rode it out remarkably. He was definitely hurt in the final round of his first fight with Toney, though.

Eubank got dropped officially by Benn in their first fight but I think he slipped too. Benn did hurt him a couple of times, though. The KD against Collins was legit but was mostly a balance thing. He got dropped early against Calzaghe but wasn't hurt. The punches he took from a legit cruiserweight in Carl Thompson were remarkable. He had a great chin.

So... fantastic chins all of them, but yeah, Hagler and LaMotta are maybe just a shade ahead of the pack.

The way a fighter fights tells you something about his chin. Was he willing to take a punch to land one? GGG was never floored or hurt in his long amateur or pro career so he should rate up there. Hagler was never really hurt, so he rates up there. Toney's chin was super durable and unlike any listed fighter proven at heavyweight though of this listed fighters he had the best defense. LaMottta fought many but was stopped three times.

Golovkin and Hagler a tie at the top. Both unbreakable.

People say that Hagler's competiion was better and I think so too, but also consider that Golovkin's competition was essentially a weight class up due to the different weigh in rules. GGG faced some big hitters too.

Solid chin for sure. We can look at the things Canelo has been doing to people since their fights and Canelo landed some absolutely brutal shots on GGG. GGG got caught flush quite a bit too for a top level fighter. More so than Hagler and Monzon i think. It's Hagler for me but i'd hardly scoff at GGG.

If we look at there entire body of work it is Toney followed by Eubank. Chris was rocked and hurt here and there he had terrible balance and was countered big at times but you only have to watch the Thompson fight to answer who had the harder head out of he or say LaMotta. Toney is 1# without question fighting guys like Rahman and Peters was mad. These two went up against big guys who punched even bigger Jake on the other hand fought a novice Satterfield, Hagler fought John and Tommy, Mike fought Roy Jones- no doubt they all had great whiskers but there is a gulf here as far as proven durability is concerned.

He's the only one on the list who had never been floored as an amateur or pro. Nor was he ever really hurt even at an advanced age. Like you said nothing to scoff at.

I'd say Jake, because he wasn't as defensively capable as some of the others ,and took a lot of shots flush.
