Is it time to finally admit that Canelo is one of the best Mexican fighters of all time?

He is 1 of 6 undisputed champions in boxing history… by definition Canelo already is an all time great HOF worthy fighter.

The fact that he is the 1st Mexican to accomplish it makes it that much easier to shoot up the Mexican Ranks.

Mexico has a rich tradition of excellent boxers.
In today's boxing with 100 million belts and 100 weight classes who cares about titles or undisputed ?
Back in the day there was ONE champion.
Salvador Sanchez is still WELL above Canelo. As is JCC.
They were just more skilled especially Sanchez.
Then you have Zarate. Saldivar was an awesome fighter as well.

I understand the emotional component of chávez, but whehter you like it or not chávez fought a lot of taxi drivers padding his record like a boss, and whether you like it or not canelo is more acomplished.

And I understand the importance of salvador sánchez, but whether you like it or not he died too young and he didnt fulfill his full potential. I remind you that he died being 23 yo, so think about it.

To put canelo at the same level as chávez or sánchez is not anything crazy at all.

I kinda agree but this is the issue...would he have been as successful without the peds that he might not or might have used. With wee Valdez from the same canp having these issues now that makes you second guess the camp.

    Rocky Lockridge
    Juan La ports
    Edwin Rosario
    Meldrick Taylor
    Jose Luis Ramirez
    Greg Hagen
    Tony Lopez
    Mario Martinez
    Roger Mayweather
    Hector Camacho
    Edwin Rosario

All these guys were champions at some point in thier career and Chavez beat them all.
Of course at the start of his career he built up his record but lets remember he was fighting once a month when he started out.

I'd have to go over my list. Mexico like I said has produced so many great boxers.
He isn't in the top ten I promise you that.

do you remember the guy who fought after fighting camacho? or after whitaker? or after taylor? or or or or or.....

People would lynch canelo for fighting a fight like that. Chávez's record is padded as ****. It's very hard to find a record as padded as his without using black and white footage.

And dont misunderstand me, please, I love chávez (sr., obviously). But what's true is true.

And CANELO isn't ? He went on the European circuit for awhile did he not?
And he was protected as well(GGG 1 comes to mind)
Not to mention he's been caught cheating
Check out the start of Canelos career its padded as well. .

lol, no, canelo's recor is not padded since he was 19. Maybe an easy fight here and there, like amir khan. Still amir khan is several orders better than Akwei Addo (5 3 0) who was the guy that JCC fought after fighting taylor. go boxrec and look at the names in jcc resume.....

Can you imagine canelo saying that his next fight would be a 5-3-0 guy? well, that's what chávez did back then.

And I repeat that chávez is absolutely great, I'm not denying that.

It comes with the territory. When you have so many fights there will always be a bunch of tomato cans. See SRR's record as another example.

Even if you were to discard 40 of JCC's wins, his record would still be impressive.
