Does current Canelo beat Mayweather he originally faced?

Canelo looked like a skeleton the day before the fight with Floyd. Then rehydrated and looked very sluggish. Style wise Floyd would always be a threat to canelo. Canelo has very slow feet and Mayweather made a career of fighting slow footed guys but right now Canelo is too big for Floyd. He is a different fighter physically although he hasn’t improved much against Floyd’s style as tonight showed.

Weight would make zero difference. To have any new attributes at your disposal to beat Floyd they would have to be a longer reach and more speed and longer legs for helping with footwork but as Canelo has became heavier he will like any other fighter may have became a harder puncher but along with that he will have slowed down and his reach will not have changed coz thats ....well ...impossible lol. Plus Floyd isn't a fighter who grabs and leans on you so the extra weight and muscle wont help canelo a single jot. In fact it would make the victory easier for Floyd. He won every minute of every round against a younger faster Canelo and it would be more of the same except more convincingly.

Canelo looked fine at the weigh in. And if they didn't want the catch weight then team canelo should not have offered it. It wasnt Floyds demand it was team canelo asked if canelo came down a couple of pounds would Floyd fight him

    No.

He still struggles with the Philly Shell and can be reset by movement and a jab.

Mayweather has mastered all of those.

Mayweather was whittled down to standing and fighting by Cotto. Canelo at this experience and not drained would break him down and stop him. He’s too small. He caught him young and dumb.

    No,
he wouldn’t be able to boil down to 152/154lb to make the fight.

Canelo that Mayweather beat back in the day was a weight drained shell of a man without any PED. That gassed after throwing 3 shots in a round.

Today's Canelo, ravaged by endless cycling is a completely different beast. Physically, mentally and skill wise.

Canelo would probably beat him given this experience and weight. Although of course its a lot of what ifs regarding weight and timing. But no doubt 160lb+ Canelo is a bit strong for any welterweight.

Floyd's defense would be good, but better jab and body timing of Canelo would take its toll. Mayweather didn't even use his feet that much against Canelo, just enough. Floyd would still have a speed advantage but not for long, the better head movement of Canelo this time would make countering more precarious and floyd would have a tendency to have low output. Just like tonight, Canelo starts to lets his hands go after he figures the timing a bit. And that is where the heavier pounds and experience will break floyd.

Bro, Canelo was already a superstar, PROVEN world champion and had 8 years professional experience.

Don't make it sound like Canelo was some dumb, green rookie.

Mayweather was just a level above him.

Jesus Christ people, can you not see that Canelo now at 168 is a completely different proposition to Canelo then, at 154?

His stamina problems due to massive weight cutting are gone. He hits three times harder and is much better drilled.

If you are one of the guys that thinks Canelo beat GGG then you have to ask yourself why Floyd wouldn't even fight Golovkin at 160, nevermind Canelo.

Canelo is hugely stronger with the added mass; he'd punch a hole through Floyd.

There's a great deal of magical thinking going on in boxing.

PBF is a bad stylistic match up for Canelo. You have to look at it like this If both were the same size and same age PBF would beat him.

To compare Canelo’s 8 years to what Floyd had experienced prior to the fight is nonsense. Of course canelo was too green even with those 8years because he didn’t fight that many world class or HoF level guys that Mayweather has fought. We’re comparing all time greats and what they’ve faced. He was obviously too green back in that fight.

I’m not saying that’s unfair. Kudos to canelo for taking the fight. He lost fair and square that night.

The size difference between any version of Mayweather and prime Canelo is too great to make the fight. 250lb Clenelo by smother
