Floyd barely beat Maidana and wouldn’t go beyond JMW.

He’s not schooling the current SMW version of Canelo.

Not this current SMW version, being allowed to weigh-in as a SMW.

An even a better question: would this version of Canelo have beaten 130-135 Floyd? I mean, that was a stylistically different version of Floyd.

If you think my question is non sensical, you're right. So is the original question. Canelo is a different fighter at SMW than at JMW. Floyd was a different fighter at 150ish than he was at SFW. Post prime Floyd still dominated a just having entered his physical prime Canelo, get over it. Even Canelo has.

So Floyd schooled Canelo at 36, but was past prime against Maidana at 37?

The difference was the stylistic match up.

Canelo stood off of him and was pot shotted.

Maidana fought him aggressively and used his strength and power to give Floyd fits, in a completely different fight.

Today’s SMW version of Canelo would have fought Floyd far more aggressively, backing him up like Maidana did.

A completely different version of Canelo with a completely different strategy = A completely different fight, with a completely different outcome.

Man I give up, you win. Fighters never change and could never become stronger and better. Styles always dictate fights. Calzaghe would still humiliate a prime RJJ, because Jones couldn't handle his style that one time. Lewis could never beat Rahman. Floyd would beat Kovalev and Golovkin. Anything else I should believe or can we proceed to crown FMJ a GOAT at 175 as well?

He was far less experienced than he is now.

Today’s version of Canelo weighing 154 would have given Floyd a much tougher fight.

Today’s version of Canelo at SMW, weighing in as a SMW, would be a significant favourite over Floyd for obvious reasons.

Can you not see how different the 2 versions of Canelo are?

Of course. But there’s simply no comparison between a less experienced, 152 pound Canelo, than today’s prime SMW version.

Let's be honest..they wouldn't be fighting Mayweather knew his limits and wouldn't go that high so the fight wouldn't get signed...but in a p4p sense...I'd fancy a peak Floyd to bear a peak canelo.

And less refined maybe but he'd had 40 odd fights..they start we early in Mexico...so I don't buy that green argument...he did his best at the time and fell short ...against a past prime Mayweather..but like I said..no shame .many tried and failed

Floyd was faded when he schooled canelo thats what most people seem to not want to mention. If a faded pbf schooled canelo. A prime version destroys him.
Canelo looks better now because he's not facing guys with the skills of a pbf. There's not guys at his weight that can exploit his flaws. If ward was still fighting at 168 and prime he would do it and you'd see what I'm talking about.

I’d fancy Floyd at the same weight.

A 150 pound Floyd vs a SMW Canelo is a completely different fight.

The issue is, many people on this thread aren’t just claiming that Floyd would beat today’s version of Canelo at 152-154 pounds.

They’re actually claiming that Floyd beats today’s SMW version, weighing-in as a SMW.
