Yes, Hearns' best chance would be to box, box, box and not trade.

Problem is a lot of people weren't convinced by those fights. Some even thought he lost both, so you could say he didn't pass that test.

I had him winning both…the first could have gone either way. Second was close but I had him winning that more clearly.
Unfortunately no big stars at this weight around at the moment.

I thought GGG just barley won the first and canelo narrowly won the 2nd.

I think Andrade might be the only comparable opponent who could give us a clue on how canelo might deal with Hearns.

Hearns outboxed Virgil Hill, who had a better jab than Canelo and was a natural light heavyweight and undefeated. Roldan was awkward. Styles make fights. The way Canelo lays down after being jabbed Hearns would have the right hand for him often and would get him knock down. That is easy to see. No one Canelo has fought has compared to Hearns really.. His jab speed and right hand.. Caleb Plant and all the guys Canelo has fought recently are contenders and decent fights, but no greats.

I don't think he has the work rate.

Anyone suggested Canelo would initiate a jabbing war with Hearns? If you want to talk about cherry picking look no further than Hill!
If it's easy to see, why hasn't someone implemented that strategy?
    Hearns couldn't beat Barkley!

Maybe, maybe not. Andrade is going to end up being one of those guys where we have to heavily speculate on his overall ability and skill ceiling h2h if he doesn't secure a match with an elite fighter soon. He squandered so many years of his prime.

100% agree with this post, Canelo not as physically imposing at 154 lbs and below.
160 lbs and above Canelo and I think he outlasts Hearns and stops him in the later rounds.

so what.. Hearns fought them all. Barkley is much tougher than Plant or any of these guys who Canelo has fought since Jacob. Hill was undefeated and had 10 title defenses and was 5 years younger than Hearns... He called out Hearns for a couple of years. Canelo has had easy opponents. The guys there, but we are in a very lean era..

The lower you go with Tommy, the bigger his power advantage becomes. He seemed like he had the same power all the way down at welter.

He might be tougher than Plant, but he ain't tougher than Canelo! Hill fought an array of average guys ,usually in his own back yard, and his talent consisted of two words ,"left jab" .Maybe Canelo's opponents look easy because he is that much better then them? Name a fighter he has avoided?

Tommy was a different level than Plant. He would land the jab and right hand. Different speed and quality... To say otherwise would not be truthful... he avoided GGG, Beterbiev. He went the distance with Jacobs and the GGG fights were good and great win, but not clear..You cannot compare anyone Canelo has fought to Tommy Hearns.. Look how Hearns easily dismantled 3 time light heavy champ Dennis Andries..
