I don’t think Canelo will be calling out Ward. Why would he? If Plant’s skills gave Canelo problems imagine what a skillful complete boxer puncher like award would do to Canelo especially at 175 pounds. Ward will never make 168 again.
Ward wouldn't have the benefit of the judges, the referee or the simple benefit of having been active so I'd highly recommend he protects his already carefully protected legacy by staying retired.
Oh, great fight -- I'd love to see it. I would support Ward -- I don't dislike him as much as most do on this board. Unfortunately, I don't see it happening even though Ward has a history of coming back strong after time off. Ward would need at least a couple warmup fights and he's already getting old, so by the time he faced Canelo he would be 38-40, which is just too risky.
Ginger nuts has cast iron nuts. And he's just as protected as Ward, maybe more so, so Ward's antics wouldn't be ignored. Ginger by UD.
Would have to be at 175 min. Remember, Ward said he couldn't ,make 168 when he returned from his layoff.
Nothing protected about Ward’s legacy. He beat a murderer’s row list of opponents and he is the man who took Kovalev’s soul.
Ward gets put to sleep. He is now 37 years old and hasn’t fought for 5 years. He will be 38 in February so after a tune up , he may or may not be ready by fall of 2022. So that takes it to 2023 where he is now 39. This isn’t even a money fight.
He's too old but never say never if the money is right. I wouldn't like to see him come back because he's past his sell by date and would probably get stopped by Canelo at this point. I think if Ward was offered big money then i'm sure he'd take it and roll the dice.
