I was merely listing some fights out there for him. Not saying they are good fights. Which is why I punctuated the list by explicitly saying he's running out of competition, and end my post with that he has no rivals, implying his options suck.
He is a tough kid with physical strength and athleticism. My issue with him is to do with his fundamental boxing skills.
Yes the way he ended DeGales career and yes the way he has looked since. As I said, it's a weak division. John Ryder is ranked 5th by Ring. David Lemieux is ranked 6th by Ring. Daniel Jacobs is ranked 7th by Ring. Fedor Chudinov is ranked 8th by Ring. Carlos Gongora is ranked 9th by Ring. Christian Mbilli is ranked 10th by Ring. CEJ is right at home amongst those 5 fighters. As I said, if it isn't Benavidez next at SMW, there's slim pickings in terms of a defence against someone world ranked at SMW.
Maybe true but the facts are DeGale was the reigning WBC Super Middleweight Champion who gave the belt to take the PPV fight with CEJ. The only reason CEJ did not win the belt that night was because DeGale vacated it to take the fight. Talking about washed up fighters that is how Callum Smith won the WBA Super Middleweight title against an injured George Groves who should not have been in the ring. You can’t credit Smith and discredit CEJ.
Firstly I've not credited Smith Secondly if Degale had kept the belt CEJ wasn't getting a shot so no he wouldn't have won any belt Groves was not washed up anyway, not 100 per cent but not shot And if he was then a shot Groves beat CEJ just before hand What does that then say about CEJ???
If you credit CEJ with really ending Degales career, fair enough but i think its well off And please highlight a fight Eubank has looked really good in since that one?
He'd regained his belt, and was one of the highest ranked SMWs in the division, CEJ mauled him that fight, he's never fought since. Its the definition of ending a career. I never said he looked really good since then. Don't make out that CEJ is anything special, he isn't. He's just someone on the same level as those 5 fighters I mentioned. Someone, who if Benavidez can't make weight any more, would be a legitimate SMW defence. As I said, the division is crap.
If GGG looks good at against a decent level contender like Dirrell at 168, then that fight would get interesting. As it is now - with GGG never having fought above 160 and looked fairly average against the only decent opponent he's had since Canelo - it doesn't tickle me, at least.
You said how he has looked since the Degale fight That reads to me you think he has looked good How else am i meant to interpretate that?
Yes he could have got it as a contender in the WBC ratings as a voluntary defence. The problem was the mandatory was due so the choice he had was give up the belt and fight CEJ for a massive payday or defend the belt against his mandatory for less money Dirrell. He wisely chose the cash though he lost. Had it a been a voluntary defence CEJ would have got the WBC belt instead of just the IBO belt. It was a significant landmark win for CEJ and changing of the guard. It’s clear you don’t like CEJ which is your prerogative. Groves was not injured going into the CEJ he got injured during that fight quite badly when his left hand shoulder went quite badly.
Like a fighter or not, if good I'll credit them Eubank im not keen on and he is pretty rubbish Exactly the Mado defence was due, so he was not getting a shot That is my point And Groves has stated since retirement that the shoulder was not the reason he lost to Smith
Did not say he does not have them I said my is with those fundamentals. It’s improving and not as bad as Wilder however Wilder has been successful in spite of his rudimentary fundamentals.
