Big John suggesting Tyson couldn’t jab due to elbow injuries and needed an op post fight: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/boxing/59226387 Apparently had to have “chromosome” injections too…is this some experimental new treatment?
Interesting. I do wonder just how many times a boxer is fully fit going into a fight they always seem to have issues as they have battered their bodies for 8-12 weeks.
Yeah, said both elbows were injured. Needed a 6 hour operation. Also had a couple of pops at SugarHill, saying Tyson does not need all that intense sparring. I especially get that point if his elbows were damaged.
Realistically, Tyson Fury does not have many fights left in him at all. I don't really expect him to ever regain the peak he achieved in the 2nd Wilder fight.
Seen the interview with Big John last night Tyson went into it injured, was in agony at times throwing the jab hence being more gung-ho........ then had operations on both elbows after the fight.
With what has has already achieved he doesn't really need many to cement a terrific legacy. Get Whyte out of the way and then fight Usyk - win that and he's done just about everything you'd want to in a ring. There will always be someone different to fight. My main concern with Fury would be him going on to long and getting beat by fighters who wouldn't have beaten him at his best.
I think he wants a Joshua fight - it’s a huge event in the UK and a massive earner. I think also he believes Usyk would be a greater challenge.
Hopefully Tyson retires, Tommy gets beat and we never have to listen to John again. Great start to 2022.
Yeah, I agree, but he might have to be at his very best for Usyk, and there is a question mark over whether he will be at his best again. Of course, with Usyk no spring chicken himself, and with a history of injuries too, and already having to do at least another fight with AJ first, the same question mark can perhaps be applied to Usyk too.
It wouldn't surprise if Fury is past his best. At the end of the day he put his body through some tremendous abuse in those three years off and that has an effect the same way tough fights do.
Imagine being a grandfather and living through your son's achievements. So weird that he's a media figure to some degree.
