Jones knocks this fool out literally whenever he wants to. Clowns him. They do not belong in the same ring.

Jones KO when he gets bored.

Fitz won't get within 10 feet of Jones... Roy will see everything coming. Anyone who has seen footage of Fitz who still picks him here is an absolute imbecile.

Insanity. Nobody "befuddles Jones with their skills".... Especially Fitz...

    Absolutely ridiculous statement.

does anyone actually think this slow, stiff, lead footed antique of a boxer, has any chance?

Sounds like a crazy, unheard of unfolding of events but hell, let’s run with it.

The creative juices are really flowing now. Maybe also Roy tries to attack Fitz after he finally gets up and Fitz swears he’ll never fight Roy again, leaving a blot on Jones’ record he’ll never be able to avenge. Absolute power move on Fitz’s part.

Apt description and the answer is NO.

That’s why youthful Bob is a lock winner in this one.

Seriously though, mod. scenario, Roy UD while durable Bob hangs tough always a chance to put Jones’ lights out with just a few flush connections.

Back in Bob’s day, I would think Bob likely wins by KO.

In two short posts you called Fitzsimmons (a great champion of his day who spent 40 years at mastering the boxing craft and put the fundametals to the sport you love) a fool, then you called anyone who disagrees with you an imbecile. Great job!

How can you know that Fitzsimmons was slow?

Nonsense Fitz was one of the greats and Jones was defeated by Tarver and Calzaghe. It's clear that the skill and power advantage lies with the great Fitzsimmons.

The fool that overcome 40Ib weight discrepancies, dominated tons of top opponents, won fights using multiple different style, and was world class into his early 40s.

I wonder how many fools could fight 20 rounds with an injured hand, and little hand protection at 40. Let alone to win a world title.

Someone is certainly a fool, but it's not Ruby Rob
Fitz was very clearly not lead footed in the slightest. If that's your opinion, you obviously don't know enough about him for your judgement to be worth the bytes to store them.

I'd forgotten Jones's eleven-foot reach. This changes everything.

I think Fitz probably loses, but your post does make me wonder why you started the thread. If it's inconceivable that anyone would vote for Fitzsimmons honestly, why make the thread? These things are usually supposed to be about live controversies where there's a genuine question which fighter people will pick. Hence the absence of "Ali vs 12 year old Naseem Hamed" threads, for example.

Not really attacking you here; I am genuinely curious. It seems an unusual thread to make if there can be no question about the outcome.

If it was clear, there would be no debate...

    It isn't clear at all.

What's clear is what we see on film. If you still think Fitz has a chance after watching all available film, nobody can help you. That's on you.

I'm not doubting Fitz's ability against his contemporaries. I'm doubting his ability against maybe the fastest and most explosive LHW ever.

I seriously doubt Fitz would hit him with anything significant.

    And I like Fitz!

I don't understand what the agenda is with you guys... If you have seen the available film of both and still don't see the difference in levels, you simply aren't worth the time.
You are now in a belief system that is akin to religion. It doesn't matter what you see in reality and what makes sense, you're going on what you think you're supposed to believe.
