According to Boxrec it is someone called Jose Girones, I'm gonna be honest, I've never heard of him, Kiko Martinez would beat him, but he may have been better for his time, maybe he beat better people who were around

I've never heard of him either, European feather from the 20s and 30s, held the EBU belt.

Technically he's from Cuba but later moved to Spain, that pretty much counts. He's fought the majority of his fights in Spain as well.

Nah I think he counts. :nonono
I mean, everyone sees Sumbu Kalambay as an Italian boxer even though he's ethnically from Africa.

Anyone remember Gabriel Campillo? Always enjoyed watching this guy box, really liked his style. His performance against Tavoris Cloud was a beautiful boxing exhibition, only to be screwed over by one of the worst boxing decisions in recent times. Seemed like he was just never the same afterwards, especially when he ran into an up and coming Sergey Kovalev.

You won't like this then, I had it to Campillo by a single point that fight.

    But yeah, i dug Campillo.

Not exactly sure who #1 would be. But, it certainly ain't Kiko Martinez. Even Javier Castellejo was both better than and more accomplished than Martinez.

To be fair I have not seen that fight since 2013 so I'll have to rewatch it. All I remember was Campillo being dropped twice by Cloud, and then proceeding to outbox Cloud silly for pretty much the rest of the fight. I remember how ridiculed the outcome of that fight was the moment they announced Cloud as the winner.

Could be! Peaked at number three.

Interestingly, Kiko is one of the few guys with greater longevity, having first appeared in the rankings 15 years ago.
