Sonny Liston vs Jack Sharkey (fixed)

Since Referee Walcott is in charge of the timing on this, he miscounts the rounds and Liston goes down in the 8th round for the count.

 

2 minutes into the 8th round, Nat Fleischer called Walcott over to the ropes and said something to him. Right after that, Liston went down from a Sharkey jab to the forehead. Sadly, we may never know the whole story on this fight.

 

What’s the point of this man?

Sharkey wouldn’t need a fix.

 

Which Sharkey are you talking here? Normal Framerate Sharkey beats Liston, but I'm not so sure about the herky-jerky Bad Framerate Sharkey who faced Dempsey. That guy just didn't have the coordination or human-resembling movement to face Liston.

 

It would be a beating to the spiritual level and Liston would convert to the Carnera faith.

 

Carnera hit guys so hard that, much like Italy's trains, the cameras began to run on time.

 

The Boston Gob was temperamental and on occasion erratic.

Extremely nervous about pulling off his role in the “fix” , his mind implodes and he becomes confused.

Even though he accurately only grazes Liston’s chin with an uppercut as per the script, Jack inexplicably then falls down flat on his own face without a twitch.

Liston just stands there bemused, not having time to execute his own premeditated swan dive and having no idea what to do next.

 

All credit to Dempsey for still being able to time Sharkey’s herky jerky nut sack to perfection.

Which given these two loose cannons, will almost certainly backfire.

 

Then I bet on the first- Sharkey was a monster.

 

Liston would keep the story simple, just like he did against Ali.

Ridiculous. Bad Framerate Sharkey's awkward movement would be a nightmare for someone like Liston.

Sonny never fought a Chaplinesque opponent in his coddled, normal-speed career. It was a lost art by then. Short of Sonny spending months sparring under a strobe light, Bad Framerate Sharkey would send the Bear out on a stretcher.
