I dunno about that. Judging from the all the negativity about him both on here and in the general forum no one seems to rate him highly at all.Everyone all say he's got a good right hand punch and that's about it so it's. Going by that it's a bit of a stretch to say Wilder is the most overrated heavyweight ever.

So If you come across a greatest boxers list and Ali is #1 ahead of Robinson, Greb, Charles, Pep, Armstrong that wouldn't be overrating him?

Calling someone the greatest boxer in history covers alot of territory. I don't have any heavyweights in my top 5..

Ali transcends boxing like how Michael Jordan transcends basketball or Tony Hawk transcends skating, that's a strong enough point. Most casuals can't exactly explain why he's the GOAT besides stating that Ali says it himself. Also some even take into account his public persona such as his stance against Vietnam as a reason for him being the GOAT.

P4P I don't think he has much of a case. Certainly in fame, personality, his legacy al that overpowering. Ali did alot but there's more than a few fighters who should clearly be ranked ahead of him, perhaps even in heavyweight Joe Louis.

Agreed. I think the ability to see into the future is key to one's credibility and trumps all other areas of boxing expertise... ... ...

I’m a troll and a liar? I strive to contribute posts of value to this forum while keeping my figurative mouth shut when I don’t have something to say. I don’t recall ever lying here, making up stats or quotes or anything like that. Yes, it happens, but I’m not sure why.

I will admit to trolling a bit on a couple of occasions recently, but did so during “teachable moments” to prove points and, ideally, help the forum. One was the “How Good Was Joe?” thread in response to posters using only common first names and expecting readers to understand who they’re talking about. The other was when somebody made a thread asking who would win a fantasy fight; one that’s been done several times previously. In an effort to inspire posters to use the “search” function rather than repeat posts, I bumped several previous threads about the same fantasy fight. Yes trolling, but also teaching.

So I’m a bit surprised to be called out in a thread I’m not even sure I participated in. Oh well.

Overrated heavyweights? Perhaps this happens among casual fans who don’t dig deeply enough to know better. I.E. “Dederick Tatum would knock out any heavyweight in history,” without knowing their history. But knowledgeable posters trade opinions based on pretty in-depth study. So I guess that one fighter can be overrated by any given poster, but no fighter is overrated by everyone.
