Game changed from Summer 2022 when DAZN UK take over the BT Sports Platform per link https://worldinsport.com/bt-sports-dazn-reach-deal/ According to the article, it is interesting to note that BT has 2 million subscribers and DAZN UK has over 200,000 mugths.
BT Sports subscriptions through Sky direct currently cost £24. It would be reasonable to charge exactly the same price with the same offering plus maybe an extra 5p per month for Matchroom Boxthing.
Plenty of twitching. Frank will need to move back to Boxnation or Sky - Humble Pie will need to be consumed.
Same with the UFC. Fight ends, winner declared, quick interview in the ring with the winner and then the next fighters are already on their way out. Hearn is an attention seeker who loves getting his face on camera. He jumps in the ring as soon as he can, does his customary 10 minute interview full of bants then goes and joins his next fighters ring walk and stands in front of their actual team.
I don't trust a word that site says. Literally anybody can submit an article for that site. DAZN have never published subscriber numbers, and there is zero chance this author knows the DAZN figures. FWIW, the FT also say BT Sport has 2m subscribers though, so the author managed to copy/paste that bit correctly from a credible source.
Earn could be Boxthing's John Terry - all we need is for him to appear in boxing gear post fights with a sweat on.
This content is protected This is bad news for DAZN ain't it? 800,000 at $80 is $64,000,000 Need a lot of ****ing subscriptions to cover that
Hearn seems to think Canelo is going back to DAZN. You'd need 8 million subscribers at £7.99 to cover that and that's if there was no other fights that month to split the income.
GGG 3 is the biggest fight out there for Canelo. If GGG looks good next month, I can see that happening.
Couple of points on this. DAZN project the spend and cards on a quarterly basis. The project is built with a 8 year capital injection to buy out competition. A Canelo card is forecast at 4 months. So a $40m card is projected on 3 months and not 1 month. With a trickle down over 12 months. Despite the myth of people cancelling in droves, it takes an average subscriber 7 months to cancel a subscription they no longer seem necessary. A Canelo card needs approximately million subscribers to make it beneficial to the platform. That is not new subscribers that is active viewers who may cancel their membership if it wasn’t on the platform. The other thing people forget is the Canelo DAZN fights are done on global basis. Ie an outright buyout so that million subscribers need to come from across the globe. This is what the PPV providers such as Sky fear as they cannot offer this service. there is zero risk on PPV and the platform is willing to make a big loss until competition is beaten.
