No, you're completely right - it is a sensational fight and deserves to be rated higher than it tends to be. Take fights like Saad-Lopez 2 and Moore-Durelle out of the conversation and you might be looking at the best light-heavyweight fight on film. It's on a par with Saad-Johnson 1 in my opinion, which should be praise enough.

@Jel Just seen that you liked a fight I mentioned earlier in this thread, that being the amazing Ruben Olivares vs Kanazawa Kazuyoshi II clash, a fight that was voted the Japanese fight of the year for 1971. The reason I am bringing this up is that the version I shared in that post is almost comically inferior to the version I later found and shared to my channel and also share below now. This version of the fight is 1080p 60FPS HD and is, without a doubt, the highest video quality Ruben Olivares fight in existence online. I would stake my reputation on it, lol. I feel bad knowing you likely watched some of the fight in the lower quality than that which it can be seen in below. You're absolutely right, Mario. I did watch it the standard (lower) quality. I realise now that I've probably been watching fights of yours in lower quality than I had to and thinking 'I'm not sure how this is higher quality!'.
I had that one on VHS years ago on account of it being voted 1981's FOTY by KO magazine. It's about as far from The Ring's choice (Sugar Ray Leonard v Thomas Hearns) as was possible but it's a cracking fight with lots of action. For what it's worth, I think KO and The Ring both got it wrong because the best fight of 1981 was Cornelius Boza-Edwards v Rafael Limon - insane fight.
Frank Flecther v Clinton Jackson - you will be astounded, trust me, one of the best action fights of all time, plus Frank was in loads more. keep well.
What constitutes a great fight? Too guys beating the hell out of each other like Hagler or Hearns or Ward and Gatti or Arguello and Pryor, or a technical battle, which sometimes is also as fascinating... Probably not as great as those fights, but even McCallum vs. Curry. The way each guy probed for advantage and then a swelling eye created a momentum and change for Mike.. those things are fascinating. The way Fury fights. Ali how he found a way to beat George. Even how Genaro Hernandez would use his legs to move and win fights.
Joe Louis vs Billy Conn 1st fight. The perception that Conn was pitching a shutout or dominating Louis not really true. It was a helluva fight. High level stuff. At one point Joe is on him and Billy slips by the ropes. Joe stepped back. Sportsmanship and class in the middle of a barnburner of a fight. You can't fake that kind of character.
