I must be missing something from watching Usyk... I really do not get the hype, but have only watched a handful of his fights. Is there any one particular fight he displays his full skillset someone can point me in the direction of? I want to see what all the fuss is about, as his semi final fight left me thinking this kid is pretty good at most things, but not exceptional at anything. My issue with him was he seems far too easy to hit, so all the talk of him cleaning out heavyweight I found bizarre.
I actually felt the same way for quite a while. But the results have to speak for themselves after a certain point, and the more I see of him the more quietly impressed I am. For my money it's not one particular thing that Usyk does exceptionally well, but how smoothly he puts everything together. He has excellent footwork that takes him exactly where he needs to be, utilises multiple angles of attack to open up defences, knows when to apply pressure and when to hang back, and is very adept at reading a fighter's patterns, which allows him to adapt and dominate as the fight wears on. All of this, and a host of other little things that he does, are integrated into his style, rather than separate attributes, which makes him very difficult to figure out and beat. I don't think he cleans out heavy, but I do think he beats the likes of Wilder and Parker if he moves up. Fury and Joshua I think would be a step too far.
I do like his aggressiveness and he does seem to move well, but only at times, other times he seems to just stand in front of his opponent with little head movement I've noticed. My main issue with him is that he seems to be pretty willing to trade and use his toughness, but if he moves up, or even when he fights Gassiev, he can't do that. I've been more impressed with Gassiev to this point and if Usyk sits in front of him like I've seen him do, I don't think he'll hear the final bell, even if his beard has looked solid AF up to now. I'll have to watch more of his fights though!
Gassiev, 6'4", walks around at over 220lbs, reach of 193, 70% KO ratio @ CW... & Ward makes him a 'bum'! LOL Search for the Klitschko Gassiev image: https://photo.*******.com/uploads/klitschko-gassiev.jpg MG stood next to the giant WK & he doesn't look much smaller! You people are delusional.. https://gfycat.com/gifs/detail/IncompatiblePlasticCod Gassiev brutalizes both Ward & Kova!
We don't know how many attempts Ward would need to legitimately beat Kovalev because that hasn't happened yet.
Not sure about that. Not saying Ward would win, but your statements or similar to the 1st Kov fight were made. Kov did not end Wards career, or brutally stop him. I don't think an active Ward would beat Usyk. An inactive Ward loses by wide UD.
Ward would be seriously put the wringer though. Leaves the ring really swelled up and gassed. Uysk wants more.....
Imagine Ward trying to go through Usyks opposition .. Joshua, Chisora, Gassiev, Breidis etc .. he had to cheat to beat SMWS
Ward beat Kovalev twice which is a FACT. On the Vodka abuse my understanding is that Krusher had been a drunk for a longtime. That’s on him nobody else if true.
& Oscar beat Whitaker & Quartey but it doesn't stop you saying otherwise.. thick **** .. Ward was gifted that first win, he knew it too. Watch his reaction when the cards are announced. Kovalev was jobbed Usyk>Ward.
