Smith was definitely more durable than Bonavena. And those guys lasted cause they clinched and held on for dear life. Bonavena was dumb and will try to fight Tyson, which will be his undoing.

Hold on there. Boneclutcher was KOed 7 times in less fights than Bonavena, who was only stopped at the end of the 15th round by Ali.
However much holding he did he was not able to avoid being stopped 7 times!
I have seen you do the opposite of some old timers-without exception & reflexively favor anyone who is more recent &/or larger.

I see no indication Oscar was dumb, but at least saying he would not cling is a defensible position.
But when you say against all evidence he Smith was MORE durable...
And Smith was no bulkier in muscle-he was 5 & a 1/2 inches taller-less if his height was exaggerated-& 25 lbs. heavier without being lower body fat. Frazier said fighting him was like "moving a refrigerator" around the ring.
A tribute to Ringo here...https://www.boxing247.com/boxing-news/remembering-ringo-oscar-bonavena/179196

I gotta ask you-are there ever any occasions when you favor guys who are not more "modern" or larger?
If no or rarely-that is the mirror-image bias of old fogeys who improbably always pick Ye Olde Timers despite all evidence lol!

When I watch Smith fights, I see one of the most limited contenders in HW history. He's quite durable, but not close to Bonavena in that aspect.

Smith was not more durable. Lionel Butler knocked him out. James Broad knocked him out. He quit against Brian Nielsen.

The only time Bonavena was ever stopped was in the 15th and final round against Ali ... not in the third round against Lionel Butler.

not a good comparison ali hit way less hard that is a dumb comparison most people know ali was a sharp hitter not a big hitter
so no oscar wasnt close to being as tough as smith

Bonecrusher Smith didn't hit harder. Don't be confused by his nickname name. They may as well have called him 'Sweet Hands' or 'Sugar.' Smith had a 50 percent KO percentage. Half the guys Smith fought beat him or went the distance. Frankly, that's a pretty low KO percentage even for a boxer-puncher.

It was a little more difficult to floor Joe Frazier than it was Mike Weaver.
