This punk had no interest in fighting Benvenidez when he was the WBC champ and then all of a sudden had a desire to fight for the vacant title once Benvenidez lost the belt. He then, later on, says he doesn't want to face fellow Mexicans and that's why he doesn't wanna fight him. Can you imagine if Barrera, Morales, and Marquez if they said they didn't wanna fight other Mexicans? For years he avoided GGG until GGG's punching power started showing signs of fading with age. He also won't fight Bivol, Beterbiev, and is now targeting Charlo who slaps and cant punch at all. Plant was also a slapper with no punch at all. Kovalev was totally shot when he fought him as well thats why Canelo was the betting favorite in that fight. Canelo is a safety first cherry picking joke.
Post like this show how much Canelo’s carrying boxing. A bigger question is why can’t any of those guys you named fight live bodies? Like him or not, Canelo’s done a lot for the sport and all this forum can do is criticize him
Nearly two years.... All of 2016 and the first nine months of 2017. It was egregious Everything post Miguel Cotto was a ****ing joke. Amir Khan at 155lbs, Liam F'ing Smith, and Chavez at 164.5lbs. All clown fights where he was like a 25-1 favorite.
So after Canelo beat Cotto at 155 he waited a little over a year and a half to move up to the full 160 limit to fight GGG. So, I thought it was YEARS.. really it was a little over a year and a half. You know GGG had the option to fight Canelo at 155 sooner right? GGG himself said he would fight anyone between 154-168. It was all bark obviously. Everything post Cotto was still almost always better than anything Golovkin did in a span of a year.
I imagine a parallel universe where Benavidez didn't go on a coke binge or get fat and lose his title. In this universe he would have the fourth title and Plant would be the guy on the outside looking in. In this universe Canelo would have fought Benavidez to unify and would have also beaten him without too much trouble. In this universe people would write threads accusing Canelo of ducking slick boxers and comparing Plant to Mayweather as justification that Canelo wants no part of Plant and is using title unification as an excuse to avoid having to fight "the slickest and most talented fighter in the division".
Except he didn't , did he? He went all the way up to 165 to fight Chavez jr. in a 20-1 fight which was an absolute joke of a bout. He missed prime GGG, they waited to see the Brook and Jacobs fights first . of course it didn't matter anyways, GGG won 8rds of that fight, but the point is made.
