    An ageing Sturm, yes.

I would have like for them to have met 2008, 2009.

He was clearly better than anyone GGG beat before Jacobs.

Everybody knows Sturm ducked GGG almost as badly as Canelo ducked GGG when he was WBC mandatory. I see no reason to believe that a younger GGG wouldn't have given Sturm the Geale treatment too.

My money would be on GGG, definitely, but as I said I give no points for hypothetical victories.

You are right no one is obligated to move up, but more legends have challenged themselves by moving up in weight, daring to be great instead of just staying in their comfort zone feasting on Tuesday night fight fighters ala GGG

Yeah, Sturm leveraged the WBA to split the title in two in an effort to avoid Golovkin and was allowed to ignore any mandatory challenge for over two years. Shameful shyt.

This is the crux of the argument, too. Golovkin was trying to fight Sturm as early as 2008 and had to break his contract in early 2010 because Universum not only wouldn't allow him to cave Sturm's face in, but lied to him about other potential matchups against Rubio, Mundine, etc. Golovkin was so desperate that his team contacted everyone ranked inside the WBA's top-10 and Nunez was the only one to accept (N'Dam declined, by the way). If Golovkin gets Sturm in 2008-2010 when Felix was between #1-4 in world, Golovkin would have become even harder to ignore. From there maybe GGG gets Pavlik, but more likely Martinez. And who stops him after he picks up the crown? At that point he has more leverage against Alvarez, so maybe he gets a more favorable outcome in their first fight but still possibly loses the second. In that scenario he would have likely been a consensus all-time great and you wouldn't have all of the bitterness around his reign that we currently have. Golovkin was clearly hard done by the system.

Huge falsity. Most guys move up because:
    1. They cannot make weight comfortably
    2. They got KTFO of that weight class, have no where to go but up.

Moving up to 'challenge' is just what fans like to think.
