Buatsi's team were sadly reluctant to take certain fights which I personally would have viewed as winnable and were on the table for him, and perhaps a bit too hesitant in as much as they did not want him to fight with even minor injuries which boxers have to sometimes inevitably go into fights with. This played a role in him being inactive and up to the Bolotniks fights having a worryingly poor caliber of opposition for someone with his talent and punching power. I don't want to blame it all on Josh as I do believe it was more his coaching setup/management than him personally. This fight would have been his third this year and is exactly what he needed- activity and momentum plus a tough but winnable fight in Vlasov so it's bad news for him it's off.
Many people were actually shocked Buatsi took this fight and had Buatsi as the underdog. I personally wasn't sure, I always go with the "they picked him for a reason" and that normally pans out. But we've had Whyte pull out from what many considered a dangerous fight because of an injury and many people didn't believe it. And now Buatsi, after the weekend with Galahad and Harper losing world title, maybe Eddie doesn't want to risk him in a somewhat meaningless fight in terms of titles. Matchroom fighters are dropping like flies, it's a really bad period for them and I wouldn't be surprised if Hearn decided late in the day it wasn't worth the risk. If this isn't rescheduled then in my opinion it was a decision not to fight, if they do reschedule then maybe he is genuinely injured, we will see.
Can't help but feel that the team around Buatsi must know something about him that we don't. Some kind of fundamental physical and/or mental flaw that they are worried will get exposed if he steps up and gets really tested.
He's not losing to Parker this time. I had him winning the first fight anyway, if he just steps it up a bit he can win comfortably.
Sadly, Chisora will likely be punching for pay into his 40’s. If he loses to Parker again as I expect, they will roll him out to headline against Whyte once he’s beat again.
He's going to swing and miss constantly, get outboxed, then everyone will claim he won because he was plodding forwards. Same old story.
Everyone will claim he won? Most people hate Chisora on here all because he's still getting paid. The first fight was an entertaining one and it was close.
