On November 6, 2021 Steve Lott died peacefully in his sleep surrounded by his loved ones at age 71. Very surprised not to see any mention on the forums anywhere Steve always seemed 10 years younger than his age. Perhaps alongside Jerry Izenberg the worlds greatest fight historian and certainly its custodian of fight film . Lots of such shock deaths among key pioneering but low profile figures in boxing and world martial arts this November...Steve...Roy Horan....Salem Assli to name but a few.
Sorry to hear. My dad and I met James Toney back in 1993 when he was training at the Fernwood Resort in Bushkill, PA. James promised us a signed photo and invited us to his room. On the elevator ride up, there was another guy with him that I thought was him. He didn't look too sociable so never said a word to each other.
Aw man. RIP Steve. He was a cornerman & good friend of Mike's early in his career & during part of his prime.
RIP he seemed like a good man.. He was very close to the fighters he worked with, which says a lot about him. i remember how affectionate he was with Rosario.
I am surprised not to see anybody mentioning it anywhere as well. Not so sure if Mike Tyson has said anything about that too. RIP.
I actually only caught the news on fb randomly finding the profile of a lady who photographed fights in the 1980s it was down on her timeline.
Indeed Pea...he released so many interesting clips on his YouTube channel in recent years...kf course all in crystal clear definition
