Lmao shavers and Briggs? They were fringe contenders. Liston knocked out more prime opponents then any Hw in history according to “Boxing by the numbers” qualified power ranking category. Liston also threw more punches then most at a ridiculous 61.5 a round (given he wouldn’t make it past the fourth round often so I wonder how he carried it late…would need numbers from Machen fight). Tyson I believe edges him out in regards to ko quickness but like less then a round quicker in the Ko department.
That’s ridiculous. Patterson wasn’t the best chin but look how many times he was stopped and by who! He was stopped five times. Twice by Liston one of the best power punchers all time once by Ingo also a great power punched and twice by Ali he was TKO once was his last fight. I wouldn’t consider that China chinned Patterson was a great fighter. I don’t necessarily disagree on Williams or Nino lol although many would on Williams. Machen and Zora are extremely underrated fighters. Hardly gatekeepers

I never claimed Briggs & Liston were as good as Liston, my point was about KO quickness & was correct. Liston's opposition (like those of a number of champions) has been derided. You will hep his case if you can show he knocked out more prime contenders than any HW in history. That does not speak to just how good they were, & they were very small by modern standards, LHS & CWs at most by modern day of fights standards... But please provide the hyperlinks to that claim. And also to the claim he threw the most punches per round. I never hear any claim like this! In the Ike vs. Tua fight, I believe Ike threw--an incredible 80 + punches a round. About your wife, or about Tyson Fury? I'll assume Tyson Fury I understand, but the point isn't what happens next it is what has happened so far. Fury is 6'8, 275. He is 60lbs heavier than Muhammad Ali. He has a good chin, and other-worldly powers of recovery, elite defence, good accuracy and for a man his size, footwork and mobility that can literally barely be believed as well as handspeed that has never been seen in a man this big. This is my read based upon him if he was now retired. It is a big shout, but not like it would be where Vitali is concerned, for example, because Fury has the generational wins Vitali never came close to, and that even Wladmir with his enormous longevity didn't equal. In short, he is proven at the next-to-very highest level, although he's not proven at the contender level, and he is either an astonishing outlier or the first of a new breed. Either way that positions him very well for head-to-head arguments. Which I consider spurious btw. There is no "right" there is no "wrong" there is just OK and silly. Maybe Fury will be considered silly, although I would just point out that my last silly prediction on Classic concerned Usyk versus elite heavyweights, now the normal view.
I don't have a wife, so that would be a bold prediction indeed. I like what I see in Fury, but he has only beaten two men ranked in the top ten. If Deontay Wilder gets blasted by Dillian Whyte, his record will suddenly look very questionable. Hell Fury might get blasted by Whyte himself, you never just know. I agree that Fury is a unique talent for a fighter of 6' 9'', though I think that his optimal fighting weight is more like 245. Bottom line, he hasn't fight enough elite guys, to be a candidate for the top ten.
By agreeing with his statement that Williams was a "big can", you realize you're simultaneously labeling Machen (who you say is an "extremely underrated fighter) in the same or a similar class right? Seeing as Machen drew with Williams, and that "draw" was a majority draw with the third judge having Williams ahead. You can't have it both ways.
I agree 3 is very generous. That being said, I wouldn't be surprised if he makes my top 3 after all is said and done.
