No it isn't. Moving up to fight at a higher weight is not duking a lower weight fighter. You don't know if Beterbiev or Bivol could even beat Makabu at CW.

 

I knew who he was, I'm not a casual. I don't think Mikey ducked Loma he was just fat and didn't want to make the lower weights anymore. Lastly I thought Breidis was going to move to HW and only a fool would take on a big puncher like Doriticos for his first fight at CW and Canelo is no fool.

 

If he fought and beat Beterbiev or Bivol you'd be full of excuses and not give him credit anyway. You'd just accuse him of being on PEDS or a rehydrating clause or a short notice fight or Beterbiev is old or Canelo paid them to take a dive. Canelo haters like you will always have an excuse.

I guess the difference is one has unified a full division, only had 1 fight at LHW and is facing a title holder in the division higher, the other two have shared a division their entire career and are yet to touch gloves.

 

Either guy would swim across the Atlantic for that "payday...payday". But they won't get the chance because yes, Canelo is swerving around them.

 

Bivol and Beterbiev need to worry about fighting each other. Its getting down right disgraceful how they've avoided each other for four years.

My thoughts on on the situation is:
-Peoples say that Canelo is the only one fighting the BEST.Well ok...don't you think others boxers want that too?
-Every boxers want what Canelo have; money,exposure(tv's,ppv) and a Big fan base.Fight against others champions and be unified.
-Don't tell me all the boxing world (except Canelo) are afraid of fighting the BEST.If you beleive THAT your'e BRAIN DAMAGED.

As a fan , would you rather see Canelo fight either Bivol or Beterviev or this guy from the Congo?

 

If he's testing the waters (similar to Pacquiao did at super-welterweight) then I would have no issue. The problem I have though? He already had a 'testing the waters' fight one weight class below with Kovalev. There are other fights to make at light heavyweight, with Bivol (who I think Canelo would smash tbh) and Beterbiev (which would be entertaining as hell) and Joe Smith Jr (again, Canelo win but it'll be wildly entertaining for however long it lasts). No one's asking for this fight against Ilunga Makabu who is the weakest of the current cruiserweight belt holders and is in no way a bigger money fight than anyone at light heavyweight.

For goodness sake, he still has unfinished business at super-middleweight, the one guy EVERYONE wanted him to fight in Benavidez.
