If Canelo beats Makabu how will you rank him?

The fact that the WBC is dropping cruiserweight down by 10 lbs at the same time canelo wants to fight this guy seems kind of sketchy.

 

Where do you rank him now?

 

If none of the other sanctioning bodies drop their Cruiserweight limit from 200 to 190, it only serves to confirm this.

Not close to any of those, I think he's in the 100-150 range and if he stays on pace he'll finish in the top 75. Maybe top 50.

It's hard because we don't know how good a lot of his recent opponents are because fighting him was cashing out their life's work. The Kovalev, BJS, and Plant wins are going to age like milk. Callum Smith looks like he might do something, but who knows about the rest?

I'm also torn because I'm sick of these good small guy vs OK big guy fights. At the same time, beating a current champ is always a resume boost and beating one considerably larger than you with power is impressive. It should move the needle, but it doesn't excite me much.

At least he's doing something though. A lot of champions have barely left the couch since 2019. Canelo and Usyk are lapping the field.

If he beats Makabu, beats Benavidez and goes for Undisputed at 175 he has a very good case for top 20 imo. Right now he is not there yet and there is still a long way to go

 

i suggested the exact same thing. 5 different division crowns, unified at jww, unified at 160, first undisputed smw, undisputed lhw. the club of fighters that can claim similar feats is small. very small.
