Why did Canelo move up to LHW for Kovalev, but can't do the same for Bivol & Beterbiev?

My good friend in Texas Kirk Johnson beat Ruiz but Joe Cortez gave another of his very suspect officiating displays, along with Ruiz oscar worthy acting, ended the fight by DQ ing Kirk

Kovalev was a huge win, don't rewrite history.

Beterbiev would be great fun to watch, but Canelo is more than capable of busting him up. Bivol is probably a style Canelo would rather avoid, as is Benavidez.

Is it really a cherry pick if the guy is ranked in the top 4 of every reputable boxing ranking outlet?

These people are crazy. Canelo is trying to get a cruiserweight title and people think he is ducking guys like Beterbiev and Benavidez.

    Benavidez? no. Beterbiev? yes.

I guarantee people would be saying the exact same thing about Beterbiev or Bivol if they moved up to fight Makabu instead of facing each other.

i doubt that. i think most would welcome seeing them challenge themselves if they dont plan on seeing each other. what else are they going to do? i would, at least.

I remember that. I liked Johnson. He just rarely showed up. Had great potential!

That debacle just about finished Kirk. He'd worked his butt off ,got in great shape & really beat Ruiz only to get the shaft from Cortez . He never trained at all for Klitschko just took the fight for the paycheck look how heavy he came in. the Cortez/ Ruiz tag team robbery took his heart

I think we all know that answer! Fight a past prime but avoid top prime guys. If he really move up to cruiserweight, then Canelo showed he's a ***** for trying to make Bivol do a catch weight.

I see it the other way, beating DB would absolutely, unquestionably make him the man at 168. Beterbeiv is more of a "luxury" fight that would be nice to have!

Either way, hopefully he fights all three guys.
