In their primes, I think one of these 2 will be the P4P king. I think haney is a fraud while shakur will be top 5. Jaron is pretty good too. Who do you think will be #1 P4P in 5-10 years? Who will be the GGG, the one know will fight out of sheer fear?
Neither. Both are hittable and beatable. I personally think that if he keeps improving like he has been, Munguia has the most potential. And Drenlou might even be right, it's possible that Canelo is still around in 5 years and still taking names.
Teo, has greater skill and abilities, already beat the number 1, has better competition in and near his weight class to prove it. Mungia is not as versatile and doesn't have too many top competitors to prove himself against. I don't see who he is going to fight to earn the p4p title.
Quite the opposite, Munguia has a short cut for a p4p ranking. If he steps up against Andrade, and beats him, he may well have a chance to fight GGG for 3 belts, assuming that G gets past Murata. Coming out on top in that scenario would easily put him in the lower end of p4p top10. That said, I don’t think he can beat Andrade nor will he ever be good enough for a p4p ranking. But Teo may well be the next p4p king if he gets his **** together.
Well what I did think about when I was writing the post is that Teo has more competitors from Shakur, Davis, Haney, Taylor. That's a killers row and he could easily take some L's and/or cut his prime short. I'd still rate those victories higher than Mungia beating Andrade. Mungia beating an aged GGG would rank high, but there are a lot of depends there. Also I'm not convinced either guy will become p4p number 1 or takes on all the challenges to solidify that. I'm partially disenchanted with the dirty politics in boxing as of late.
Probably neither, but at least Lopez has the skills. I actually really like Munguia, but let's not kid ourselves that he has p4p #1 level talent.
Mungia hasnt fough anyone. Rosado is a career journeyman on the on the wrongside of 30. Id like to see him in with a top 5 fighter before i make any judgements. He reminds me of a smaller gilberto ramirez. Does enough to win fights but doesnt really do anything that impresses me.
Teo is more polished and talented but will find it hard to escape without a loss in that 130-140 talent rich zone...thats if he takes on the best fighters around. Mungers is fan friendly and likable. I think he has timed it perfectly to possbly inherit a weakening division and start stacking titles..wouldn't be surprised if we see him at 168 in couple of years. That will help his p4p chops for sure.
I wish in boxing time this was 1935, then we would see Lopez fight those 4 guys you mentioned. But it's 2021 and boxing fans will count themselves lucky if we merely get Lopez-Haney.
Munguia is not good. Like he's not good at all and is a loss waiting to happen. I think Teo loses to Haney, Tank, hell even Ryan. If he moved up in weight he'd lose to Taylor and Prograis. He loses a rematch to Loma (and is literally running from it).
