Fighters Who Don't Live Up To Their Nicknames

    What fighters do you think they don't actually live up to their nicknames and fighters actually do? If you have one please plz tell cuz here's my picks:

    People who don't live up to their nicknames:

    1. "Gentleman" Gerry Cooney

    - After watching his destruction over Jimmy Young, Ron Lyle and his late stoppage over Ken Norton, Dude's not a gentleman. Should've nicknamed "Gangster" Gerry Cooney.

    2. Mike "The Bodysnatcher" McCallum

    - No hard feelings tho, McCallum had really good body punching skills, but... It's not that impressive really. His more of a technician, very slick, smart, crafty and very calculative. There's plenty more boxers who had better body punching than skills him, and for guy who his nickname is specifically about body punching, like I said, nothing impressive really. He should be nicknamed something like "The Kingston Assasin" in my opinion.

    3. James "Quick" Tilis

    - Not that fast actually, he should stay with "The Fighting Cowboy". That fits him really well.

    Boxers who actually live up to their nicknames (And also sound extremely cool):

    1. Marlon "Magic Man" Starling

    - That fits him extemely well. Dude's an underrated technician, very crafty and so smooth. His performance against Lloyd Honeyghan says it all about him.

    2. "El Intocable" Nicolino Locche

    - Too obvious, no need for explanation

    3. "Merciless" Ray Mercer

    - Watch his highlight reels and you'll understand why he got that nickname. Dude wouldn't let anyone off the hook. He literally doesn't give a damn. Just get inside and beat em' up.

    4. "The Old Mongoose" Archie Moore

    - He's just like animal. Very fast reflexes, good killer instinct and always looks like his trying to catch his prey.

    5. Larry "The Easton Assasin" Holmes

    - This guy is literally like an assasin. The way he just comes for the kill, is just vicious

    Although in the case of Mercer, I think it was simply a good name as it sounds so much like Mercer. Like Pedro Decima, who they named the Decimator. Of course, it helped that both Mercer and Decima were bangers. Not so in the case of Roxell Mosley, who got Rocky Mosley. When one thinks of Rocky, one thinks of a bruiser. Rocky Mosley was anything but a bruiser. Similar to that was Herol 'Bomber' Graham, who was not some hard-banging type of fighter. However, in a subject similar to this one time, one of our friends from across the pond explained it had a different connotation in the UK. If anyone could explain that one again it would be appreciated.

    Hector "Macho" Camacho. When I think of the term 'macho' I always imagine fighters more in the style of Chavez or Duran.

    Good pick on McCallum, always felt this wasn't a true reflection of his fighting style, however don't share your view on Moore,s nickname, for me he fights nothing like a Mongoose , he looked slow (ish) , was content to sit back and wait behind that guard of his, killer instinct ? fighters like, Kecthel, Graziano, Tyson, THEY had the killer instinct not old Archie, I have always felt the name suited Greb funnily enough. keep well.

    "Iron" Mike only made sense later in his career when his defense was shot and he proved he had an iron chin. "Kid Dynamite" made more sense for his prime, really.

    "Big" George never made sense to me. He's 6'3". That isn't that big. He was 215 in his prime. Also not big.

    "The Lion" didn't make a ton of sense for Lennox. Too cautious overall, imo.
