Haha, missed the original post. Clever lad there @Eddie Ezzard.

Here’s my two bits for a song about a guy who could punch your lungs out:

Roy Jr has at least two one-punch body shot KOs right? Virgil Hill (hurts to watch) and Glenn Wolfe (who quit without going down but was in extreme pain).

I don't have a list, but of course Chavez Sr. immediately comes to mind. I also have to say Pernell Whitaker was an underrated body puncher.

Although there are better fighters and more consistent fighters in working an opponents body i have to say that for a single punch Micky Ward is the best for me.

Not a coincidence that Mickey and Cooney come up on this thread.

Gerry was trained by Victor Valle, as was Ward for a time.

VV taught what he called the ‘reverse hook’ which is a cadence combination — tap left hook to the head, hard left hook to the liver. The tap to the head is to get the opponent to raise his arm up to block it and open up the liver shot. There’s also some leverage to what they do with their body and weight shift as they transition from the head tap to the body bomb.

I knew Randall Yonker a little bit. He spent some time with Valle and ended up fighting out of Alabama for most of his career and he used it — he wasn’t a world-class guy but that particular combination helped him win some fights that ended up getting him signed by Don King … where he was put in with world-class competition and found his ceiling pretty quickly.
