I don't know about Hagler beating GGG Mark... Would be a great right though. I think GGG would bring him down via the boy shots.

 

Hagler was better at landing shots than GGG and had a better jab, he wa better defensively and could use movement when required, just a more skilled boxer overall. Hagler would have a huge reach advantage, he had a 75 inch reach so would land a lot of straight shots from a safe range.

Fury would be a real issue in any era.

 

I think SRR has the most likely chance at dominating any era as he was the total package. I honestly don't think he had a single weakness. His gas tank was endless, had an iron chin, KO power and a lethal finisher, great hand and foot speed, destructive jab, great defence, genius level ring IQ, huge desire to win and a real ruthless streak. I think he would blow through the currant WW belt holders without too much trouble, as good as Crawford, Spence, Porter and the like are, I've seen nothing to suggest they could live with a prime SRR or a prime SRL for that matter. Just my opinion but, from what I've seen and read about SRR, he really has no peer and was the first of the modern age of fighter as his skills and technique would look right at home in the modern era.

 

Current GGG definitely NO. In his prime? 100%. Same for Usyk, cause he is past it too.

 

His defense was good, but I wouldn't call it great. He got hit an awful lot, which was a big part in why he was so popular; he had the electrifying offense but was entertaining as he got hit lots. His weaknesses were a lack of physical strength, which let him down against the off-kilter, weird pressure fighters who were able to push him back. Fullmer, LaMotta, Servo, Zivic, Abrams, Brimm, Turpin, Basora, Jones, Castellani, Basilio, etc.

It's a consistent thing, and I think it means he'd have struggles dominating other, better pressure fighters. A prime Armstrong, for instance, is no easy fight; I'd argue Duran could beat him; same with Mickey Walker. And if I'm honest, it's more about how good some of the other welterweights are. I can't see anybody facing Hearns, Duran and Leonard and dominating them all. It just wouldn't happen IMO; I don't even think he'd go 6-0 if he had to face them all twice.

However, I do completely take your point. I think if anyone was the best pick to do this, it'd be either Robinson or Duran.

 

Ignoring "greatness", accomplishments, all of that, Inoue would probably dominate any BW era. He really has absolutely no competition even with the pool being larger than ever

 

Tyson would have destroyed him by countering the jab, he might have beat Mike after Rooney left his corner tough, Holmes had a better jab than Fury, an 84 inch jab is something Fury has never had to deal with, however Fury has an 85 inch reach, I feel Fury could have been champ in 1984, 85, and 89.

 

So I've never seen a prime Ray Robinson because the film doesnt exist at 147. But at 160 where he had supposedly lost quite a bit he looks amazing. And they say he carried more a lot more power at 147. If SRR was really a far better fighter than he was at 160 then my god. What can you say?

Late 70s Duran is the best fighter I've ever seen. It gets no better than a fully experienced primed out Duran.

 

There's plenty of footage of prime Robinson, it's a Bert Sugar proposed myth that all footage was lost and he was far better when we couldn't see him.

 

Do people really think Loma would dominate Pep and Saddler? Or Armstrong?

 

Only one fight stands out and thats Inuoe the rest in this era wont last in the other eras they will be knocked out cold or exposed. Inoue is the only stand out fighter considering BW has always been the most competitive class - you have to be excellent to be champion for 2 years+.
