It does look like Eddie's stable is getting weaker and weaker. The DAZN move couldn't have come at a worse time for Matchroom
They were on DAZN last night saying Charlo v Andrade is the biggest fight in boxing. Could name about 20 better.
Out of interest how many do Frank and boxxer have? given Tyson is a top rank fighter and sunny Edwards is now with Probellum
This content is protected Looks like Golden Boy will be signing with DAZN. Interesting to see how Eddie's USA cards fare now. Maybe he will concentrate more over here?
Golden Boy is with DAZN at the moment, so I don't see how this would affect Matchroom. At least we get a bit higher probability to see matchups like Munguia-Andrade, R. Garcia-Haney etc...
It's funny because I look at it with completely different eyes. Maybe Eddie Hearn doesn't have the big focus on UK anymore and maybe looks at things more globally ?
2 people I know, both with no interest in boxing, have told me they watched boxing on Sky at the weekend. Heard 2 blokes at work talking about it too, saying they don’t know who was fighting but it was a good fight. Would these same people subscribe to DAZN?
Good that can get to watch Ortiz. Let's hope DAZN can put there foot down and get matchroom & GDP fighters facing each other. Be interesting to see what the value of the deal is? Again another sign that the US business may be a loss making territory but they arent looking to bail anytime soon. How DAZN have so much faith in boxing astounds me. It didn't take much for HBO to get out of Boxing but DAZN are all in.
I’m glad they’ve renewed with Golden Boy. It’ll keep Eddie honest to have a bit of competition. Apparently when De La Hoya was going to fight on Triller, he threatened Dazn with throwing his lot with them. Post Lopez Kambosos, he’s realised that they only have limited money and that’s for freak shows and returning old age pensioners. Often the main even on a Golden Boy show is more interesting that one of Hearn’s ‘stacked’ US cards. Having some Golden Boy Matchroom match ups would be great as well.
Have just seen a new interview with Eddie Hearn complaining that the US boxing market has been destroyed by too many PPVs. Maybe he's right, but DAZN / Matchroom must be very careful not to have too many PPVs on their platform in the future. Eddie Hearn risks having his own words thrown back at himself...
Noticed Hearn keeps saying he can't get anybody to fight Andrade and the Charlo fight needs to happen etc... last I checked Golovkin, Jacobs and Munguia were all DAZN fighters. Plenty of fights to be made for Andrade on his platform but he goes after the most difficult fight to make then claims nobody will fight him. Absolute bluffer.
2 promotional companies with DAZN will only mean more content and hopefully crossover fights where less politics can get in the way... so only a good thing
