What fighter do you believe was the most avoided in history? I can't find a fighter who was more avoided than GGG. He scared fighter so much that he didn't get a decent opponent until he was in in his mid 30's. He fought Canelo when he was 35 years old. Canelo made him wait 2 years before he got that opportunity. He won the title in 2010 and he was still avoided. He had the belt for 7 years before he fought Kell Brook, his fight recognizable opponent. I believe that GGG's career is a great what if. We don't know what he was truly capable of because he got ducked so much. He might have been better than Hagler or Monzon but we don't know because he wasn't tested at his prime.
GGG is a good call lately, but not all time. From my days as a boxing fan in the mid 80's on up, I'd say at heavyweight nobody wanted a piece of Razor Ruddock. Even Mike Tyson ducked him in late '89 and canceled their bout in Canada. In the 2000's it was difficult for Paul "The Punisher" Williams to get a fair scrap.
I'd say Cleveland Williams, more people were willing to fight Liston rather than him. Other than that, I'd say Elmer Ray
more than you know and care to credit. Boxing is/Was a Deeply CORRUPT Business - Money, Ownership and National Partisanship ALL being the factors for such Corrupt Steps & Measures. Boxing History has Thousands of Great Fighters and Dozens & Dozens of Avoided & Cheated fighters!
