Canelo has tapped into that British market and has Mexican support. He is big in America already.

Crawford is top rank and fighting lesser known no name boxers. Although he did try to tap into the British market brook and Khan but a bit late. Since they are left overs past their used by date at that stage!

I think he needs spence and other marque match ups or move up in weight and target a big fish then he should be gravy.

Clenelo was popular even before Mayweather spanked him. His popularity was a major factor why Mayweather chose to fight him.

2.2 million PPV buys is Munguia level popular? It was the third highest number of PPV sales Mayweather ever did in boxing.

A lot of those American boxers today just have absolutely no personality they just all come off as poor man’s Floyd Mayweathers. They have almost something provincial to them.
Canelo at least looks very different has a unique fighting style and at least tries to come up very humble, aj is a relatively good looking for an active heavyweight boxer and has some sort of sunny boy vibes.

thats the reason I was so said that porter lost. He really comes of like a nice guy.

Canelo is far better than Spence, what the hell are you talking about, he would have destroyed Spence at 154 too, AJ and Spence are at a similar skill level but AJ is better with the British media, he`s been in adverts and is very charming while Spence is arrogant.

    A few factors here:-
    • Origin - Canelo was the next Mexican wunderkid coming up, and Joshua is English and 'won' the 2012 Gold in London; both countries are passionate about boxng and made these 2 an easy marketting proposition
    • Marketting and Promotional machine - Caenlo was Oscar's golden goose, AJ was Hearns, coupled with the former
    • Activity and resume - Canelo stepped up to fight PBF and gained a lot from the defeat, AJ solidified his 'brand' with the classic against Wlad
    • Both have tasted defeat, arguabbly making fights easier to make, as there is no risk of 'losing the 0' anymore
    It's mostly marketing, and marketability.

Crawford is generally reticent to engage the media, and has none of the advantages that Canelo and AJ had in terms of origin / fanbase - any PR muscle he had with Bob and Top Rank has been negated by his dour persona.

Spence is not as dour, but he comes across as being baked in most interviews - not sure if that factors in. I think the crash wiped him off the activity map for a long time, then covid and the eye injury - he not had much luck in the last 4 years; I think if he had not had the eye injury and had beaten Pac (which after seeing the Ugas fight IMO he would have) , then Spence would have elevated further in the star category for sure.

Finally and by no means least, both guys tiptoeing around each other for such a long time, crossing the street / 'marinating' etc - that has done neither any favours in boxing fans eyes - and it suffers even more in contrast to the activity that Canelo is putting in right now.

Bud`s fights with Khan and Brook didn`t do good PPV numbers in the UK, however Khan is far more known in the UK than Brook is, he`s also much more known than Saunders, Liam Smith and Callum Smith.

Yes Spence looks weird, his eyes look sleepy and Bud looks like a killer.
