The fight with mosley was at welterweight.Cotto 2 and Pacquiao were at jr middleweight.He only won one round in each of those 3 fights.He was a lot more dominant before he was caught.Even in the jr middleweight fight with Daniel Santos where he lost a technical decision I thought Margarito should have won it.He lost to Paul Williams but it was pretty close.He wasn’t demolished like he was against Pacquiao and others.

 

he went into the fight having just had his career threatened an hour before his fight. he looked completely shook. dont know if you understand what the tiniest loss of focus can do in the ring. he also had previous losses and decision wins at his career weight before that, so pretending he was mike tyson before mosely, is weak.

I’m not pretending he was mike Tyson,but he was legitimate pound for pound level after knocking Cintron and Cotto out convincingly,fights that some people expected him to lose at the time.I know Cintron was only a pretty good fighter but every decent punch Margarito threw in the rematch affected him and it was one way traffic from the second round on.after he was caught cheating he was not able to compete with elite fighters he still had a good chin but he was not competive in his next 3 fights losing all of them.

thats a narrative that grew wings but is total bull****. people talk like cotto was destroying him second fight. the fight was similar except for margo having one eye, which gave cotto a game plan. with 2 eyes, no reason to think the fight dont go the same way. not from what i saw.

The guy is an absolute dirtbag and a stain on the sport and thankfully 99% of fans know how much of a rat he really was

I will say he was as tough as they come and had great endurance. But I lost all respect after he was exposed and I really was a major fan of the guy

 

I used to be a fan too but after the first Cotto fight I really disliked him. Also became more of a Cotto fan
