The lightest weights I've generally had less interest unless theres a couple of ATG's. At the moment I think Welter. Super Middle and Heavy for the simple reason that all of these divisions have been a lot deeper in talent and there been a lot more interesting fights to watch as I have grown up following the sport from the early 1980's. SMW and Heavy peaked in the 90's Welter was still great till the 2010's. With the further fracturing of belts and a smaller talent pool there just weak at this moment in time. These things tend to ebb and flow though so things will get better at some point.
I like lots of LHWs yeah - Beterbiev, Bivol, Smith Jr, Vlasov, Johnson etc. I guess outside of the top fights, it's far less frustrating of a division than WW, and with more likable top fighters.
Sad that he'll probably never taste gold..... a shame because he's always been good enough at whatever division he's campaigned at, the stars just never aligned in his favor. Thought he did enough to edge Smith by a round or two in a close fight. Wouldn't mind seeing a rematch of that in 2022....
I doubt the Bobfather gives him another chance. JSJ is marketable and can generate lots more revenue with opponents the US television market casuals have actually heard of (and who don't have the obstinately sturdy chin of the Russian). That sadly might've been his last big opportunity. He's now 35, a sixteen-year pro and it took him eons of toils just to secure that one non-interim world title match.
Yep. Not into Jermall, or CEJ, or Mung, or Falcão or especially Boo-Boo. Liam Williams is a peach, but he isn't going to become The Man. Neither is Derevyanchenko, who is also cool. GGG and Murata will have a mighty rumble next month, perhaps an eleventh hour FOTY candidate - but they'll probably beat the last vestiges of prime outta each other in the process. They're yester-era's news.
My bad for not understanding...im not a native speaker btw But i will rest my point about lower weight class under say 130lbs,it's just my opinion btw take it or leave it.Naoya monster is the execption of my judgement, because he destroy everyone he face. The rest is boring for me,always war with no power and you wait for the KO...or the main event, which is normal guy with normal weight and height.MY TAKE!
I'm somewhat fond of watching Munguia and I really like Derevyanchanko, which probably disqualifies this division despite it holding two extremely dislikeable champs and is ultimately one of the worst divisions in boxing. Oh, and I suppose GGG is still somehow active - even though he's pretty much completely irrelevant now - and he's one of my all-time favourites and got me into boxing. There's some domestic guys I quite like, like Felix Cash. Super-Middle had one of my favourite fighters there in Saunders and I'm still a big fan of Ryder. Don't care for anyone else there, and it's absolutely horrific. Could be this one, really. I agree, take Usyk out if heavyweight and the rest of it can suck a dick. Shambles of a division. Other than Ted Cheeseman, 154 is a complete shambles and a wasteland. I'm happy to learn about them, but I really know nothing about 108 or 105; which is weird as I love those divisions historically and I'm all over 112 and 115.
Okay no problem. So just focusing on weights you do watch, from welterweight up - what are the ones that have most ranked guys that you root for (or are happy see win) and what are the one that have the least? Or the ones that you just hate a majority of the ranked fighters?
Oh good lord yes. Compare with, say, '94: Top 3 Ring ranked at 147: Whitaker, Trinidad, Quartey Top 3 Ring ranked at 154: Vásquez, Norris, Pettway Top 3 Ring ranked at 160: McClellan, Castro, Hopkins Top 3 Ring ranked at 168: RJJ, Benn, Eubank Top 3 Ring ranked at 175: Hill, McCallum, Maske Really the only repugnant one in the lot is G-Man. Virgil mightn't have been to everyone's tastes but he gets a worse rep than he deserves; there have been more boring champs.
Well at welter-the boxer i rate are:Crawford,Spence, the rest not so much...Manny is gone. At super welter-Charlo(i don't root for him but i rate him),Tim Tszyu At middle-Golovkin,Andrade(hate the guy but have skill),Jermall Charlo(rate it only) At super middle-Canelo(of course!),Benevidez,Jacobs and Rosado for his fighting spirits At LHV my fav division at the moment(not before)-Beterbiev(my fav),Bivol,Ramirez,Joe Smith(2 Smith),Callum Johnson and Vaslov that i just discover! At CW-Usyk(when he was here),Breidis,Gassiev(same as Usyk) At HW-Usyk,Fury,Joyce,Makhmudov That's it! hope it help you understand my taste.
Which is odd because historically speaking WW to LHW is probably the most talent rich span of divisions. Being MW champ for example at one point in time was to quote Joe Biden "A big ****ing deal". I still remember when Canelo threw the MW world championship in the trash can. I was mortified.
