Loma does well against anyone. He is a top level fighter. He is punching above his weight as a LW but at 130 and 126 he is virtually unbeatable.

The only time I would say that Lomachenko fans over rate him is when talking Mayweather as an opponent. Mayweather has too many advantages over him.

I agree with the title of the thread he would do well compared to a lot of guys that fought Floyd. Is he good enough to win some rounds? Yes, would he win the fight? No. I say Floyd wins in a 8-4 9-3 type of fight also I could see Floyd scoring a knockdown along the way.

Why has the Salido fight even been mentioned? Salido fights absolutely nothing like Mayweather, and is completely irrelevant to how this fight would go down. What's more, is that fight was ridiculous and Salido is the exact sort of fighter Floyd HATED.

I meant Jose Luis Castillo and not Diego Corrales, my bad. And I don't think you understand just how difficult it is to regularly out-jab and out-box much taller and rangier opponents the way Lomachenko does. Yes, shorter ranged boxers have dominated like Pacquiao, Duran, Mike Tyson and etc. but they did so by out-fighting or overpowering their opponents. Nobody has regularly out-boxed world-level opposition the way Lomachenko has done with such reach deficit.

It is besides the point, but I could say god has made Khabib's MMA record perfect as well. But again, besides the point!

Anyway, you're seemingly getting way too defensive over anybody even claiming this is a close fight, much less making Lomachenko the favorite. I maintain that this is a close fight, and if we analyze both Lomachenko's and Mayweather's strengths and weaknesses, as both are very well-rounded but still not 100% perfect, they match-up very well against each other.

You could cherry-pick fights for either guy when they had off-nights, it doesn't mean much. If we're being honest and comparing both at their peak, we will not be using Mayweather's performance against Castillo or Maidana in the first bout or Lomachenko's performance against Salido or against Lopez. At their best, both are all-time greats and generally speaking, great fighters generally cancel each other out.

Most, if not all the arguments you use against Lomachenko can be used against Mayweather Jr too. Loma's defense is not perfect and he gets hit by lesser fighters than Mayweather. Guess what? Mayweather's defense isn't perfect either and Mayweather has been dropped, stunned, caught and hurt by far lesser fighters than Lomachenko.

Now if we're being reasonable, maybe Mayweather's reach and height would be too much for Lomachenko to overcome. There are valid logical reasons why Mayweather may have been the favorite, but not the outlandish reasons you have provided.

FALSE! One judge had the 1st Maidana fight a draw, hence it was a MAJORITY decision and not unanimous.

Mayweather may have won OFFICIALLY, but I saw nothing in that performance that proved to be better than Lomachenko's performance against Salido. So my point still stands!

And I meant Castillo, not Corrales.

Likewise, winning a controversial decision against the likes of Jose Luis Castillo and Marcos Maidana (1st fight) disqualifies Mayweather from being compared to Lomachenko.

I meant Castillo, not Corrales, that was a typo.

For the record I am not downgrading Loma’s talents or ability just simply saying Floyd was much better at everything. You make a point about physical characteristics such as height, reach using Pacquiao, Duran and Tyson. This actually proves my point because the fighters you mention never let height and reach and speed beat them because they were highly skilled technicians themselves. The greatest underrated skill is the ability to adapt which is what Floyd has always had. In other words when things are not going your way can you flip the script. My assessment is based on the best versions of themselves and I generally prefer not to do this until fighters careers are over however I think Loma is now on the downward slide in that I think we have seen his best. By the way I knew you meant Castillo and highlighted that earlier to another poster. The main problem is not with Loma per se it’s with his advocates or fans as we call them Lomasexuals who can’t accept Loma is not the best ever which he clearly is not.
