Bob Arum quoted earlier this month that it would get between 500,000 - 1,500,000 buys

“The other platforms don’t do particularly well on PPV. We thought, and I’m sure it’s going to work, going on ESPN+ exclusively, we will do UFC kind of PPV numbers,” Arum insisted during a recent Zoom media conference call to discuss the upcoming event. “[It] can be as low as 500,000 and as high as a million and a half.

“That’s our goal. I really believe these fighters, Terence and Porter, are in for a big, big surprise when they see the PPV results.”

They were in for a surprise alright Bob. Nothing close to old Bob's prediction. Arum is so out of touch with reality it's not even funny. Bob thought Bud could do Canelo numbers lol. Not only that but Porter is a much bigger name than Plant.

That's what happens when fighters lack charisma, speaking of Crawford

I'd like to know how real that number is. Many of the media members who report on PPV numbers are also super cozy with the PBC. So could be some political stuff going on here.
Objectively speaking though his natural fan base is more with the PBC. The right move for him would be to switch to the PBC.
Either way its pretty obvious who would be the economic A-side if he were to fight Spence. I'm not super interested in Bud vs Spence if I'm being honest. Spence is a slow starter and Bud makes adjustments and pulls away from all his opponents. It would end up being a one sided beat down. If Thurman has anything less that might be a more entertaining scrap.
IMO Virgil Ortiz is the best WW right now.

It flopped because of POOR promotion.

That's all it comes down to.

Look at the UFC....they can make a guy like Jorge Masvidal - with 14 losses - into a big star by just keeping up the promotion of the guy.

    Boxing promotion sucks.

    Canelo does not have charisma

    Golokee can barely speak English

Both were promoted HEAVILY and they created brand loyalty from customers who were willing to pay to watch them.

This is where Arum has failed in his job towards Crawford - to create brand awareness via way of marketing.

Not the first time I've heard Arum try and use ufc ppv numbers on ESPN+ as why it would work.

    The guy is dilussional

Well, Arum was right when he said that Crawford don't sell to well. Maybe that is why he don't want him anymore like that.

Does PBC want that kind of salesman ?

crawford has more charisma than spence or tank davis, hes an undefeated sadistic killer inside the ring, with highlight real knockouts. its bobs job to get the public to see that and get exposure to him. its not wonder everyone leaves top rank, bob arum is just a lazy fool.

Hence Spence is the apparent A-side.

People can try and shift the blame onto OG Bob as much as they want but the cold, harsh truth is Crawford has no personality and unlike that bland emotionless ginger mannequin toad Clenelo he doesn't have that ready made Mexican fanbase behind him who'll dip their fingers in their pockets to watch him fight no matter which corpse they dig up from the graveyard for him to fight.

Terry and Errol have been playing the barking dogs either side of the fence game for years now, both giving it large when there's a barrier between them but when push comes to shove they refuse to come to the negotiating table to try and get the fight made because neither of them truly want that smoke with each other because they both think it's a fight they can potentially lose. If both of them truly wanted that smoke the fight would've been made many moons ago.

Can’t even match Spence numbers and they think they can get a 50:50 split. The only reason it got more than 100 PPV buys was because of Porter. For some reason Bud does not sell on PPV.

Bob needs to learn to adapt the promoting strategy for certain fighters and personalities. No point having the best fighter in the world of no one knows who he is.
